About the job

Do you have a handle on finance, a sense for both details and connections, and a desire to develop yourself as a controller? Are you motivated by making finance understandable and usable for managers and colleagues? And can you combine a helpful approach with professional clarity, even when you need to challenge a solution or hold fast to a deadline? Then you might be our new controller in the secretariat of the Institute for Lifelong Learning at Copenhagen Professional College (KP).

The Institute for Lifelong Learning delivers practical and research-based continuing education that creates value for professionals, workplaces and the welfare society. The secretariat supports the administrative and financial operations and ensures systems, overview and timeliness, so managers and staff can focus on their core tasks.

As a controller you will be part of the secretariat's finance team, which after your appointment will consist of seven staff members and a student assistant. The finance team works in a partner-based manner, where each controller has independent responsibility for, among other things, budgeting and budget follow-up, activity management, project economics, pre- and post-calculations, invoicing, analyses and financial management information for 1-2 departments.

We are an experienced team with extensive knowledge of the institute's finances and activities, and we are looking for a colleague who wants to develop professionally and contribute to developing our task solutions.

About the job

You will have a broad range of contacts and will collaborate with, among others, consultants, project managers, department heads, institute directors and colleagues in central administrative units. The tasks range from secure operations to analysis and development, and there are periods with many simultaneous tasks and tight deadlines. There is also an increasing need for financial management on larger projects, where you will have the opportunity to build experience.

Your main tasks will be to

  • Work with pre-calculation, bids, contracts, follow-up and invoicing of the departments' activities and projects
  • Support managers and project managers with budgeting, financial follow-up and project economics
  • Carry out financial calculations and budgets in connection with public tenders, grant applications and larger offers
  • Prepare education-related financial analyses and activity-based analyses and decision basis on finance, activity and profitability – including development over time and business cases
  • Collaborate with the finance department and Studies Service on the institute's finances and activities

About you

We envision that you

  • Have a relevant education – e.g., a professional bachelor’s degree in public administration or an equivalent education with focus on finance and governance
  • Have good knowledge of accounting and financial management, preferably project finance
  • Have relevant practical experience from working with accounting and financial management in the public sector and preferably from the education sector
  • Have experience with accounting tasks such as bookkeeping and invoicing
  • Are proficient in Excel and have an interest in working with data and digital tools
  • Have knowledge of and/or interest in working with procurement, contracts and externally funded projects

We emphasize that you

  • Work analytically, structured and thoroughly with an eye for both detail and the overall financial context
  • Can translate numbers and data into clear decision-making bases, approach what lies behind the figures with curiosity and critical thinking, and act as a professional sparring partner for consultants and management
  • Are service-minded and solution-oriented and collaborate constructively without compromising on professionalism
  • Follow up tasks through to completion, deliver on time, take responsibility for quality and actively contribute to developing both your own area and shared workflows
  • Maintain calm, overview and judgement, even when pace is high

The position can be relevant for you who are newly graduated with relevant experience from student jobs and internships, and for you who have 2-3 years of experience. We are primarily seeking a colleague with a solid professional foundation, strong learning ability, and potential to take on more complex tasks and greater independent responsibility over time.

We offer

  • A work community with engaged and experienced colleagues who keep up spirits, even when things are fast-paced
  • Thorough introduction and good opportunities for professional sparring, collaboration and development
  • A job with a high degree of influence and flexibility, including the possibility of working from home
  • A workplace in historic buildings with a canteen, fruit scheme, good parking facilities and an active staff association
