Cook apprentices for the Oslo-Copenhagen route - quick start

Become a chef apprentice on the waves – and embark on a very special career at sea!

Do you want to board the Oslo–Copenhagen route as our new chef apprentice ?

As part of our restaurant team you will have a central role aboard the ship, as we together create the unique experience of enjoying a dinner at sea. You will also become part of a special workplace where we both live and work together – and where you quickly take responsibility and learn from experienced colleagues.

THE JOB

The training as a cook takes about 4 years and alternates between school and apprenticeship. With us you have the opportunity to gain practical experience aboard our passenger ship NORDIC CROWN .

As an apprentice you get a unique opportunity to work in several different restaurants and to service up to 1600 passengers daily. You get an exciting and varied daily life, where you meet many types of dishes and service styles – and become part of a dedicated team with a focus on high quality and good ingredients .

YOUR PROFILE

We expect that you

• Have a final exam from primary school and have completed Basic Course 1 and 2 in the culinary or bakery education
• Speak Danish, Swedish or Norwegian and can communicate effortlessly in English
• Are mature and preferably have had one or more jobs
• Are flexible, proactive, responsible and have good teamwork skills
• Are sea-strong and can obtain a seafarer health certificate ( Read more here )
• Have the desire and passion to become a truly skilled cook
• Are an EU/EEA citizen with a valid passport
• Will present a criminal record

THE PRACTICAL

All work takes place aboard the ship, and you board and debark in Copenhagen .

You work in a 14/14 rotation – 14 days where you live and work aboard, 14 days off. Working days typically lie between 10-13 hours.

Salary and terms follow the collective agreement between Alvina Shipping and Metal Maritime . The salary is net pay without tax (DIS) when you reside in the EU.
