Would you like to express your musicality in both services, communal singing and musical meetings between people? And would you like to help develop the churches' musical life with respect for the traditions we have?

Nørre Broby Church and Sønder Broby Church, Fåborg Deanery in the Diocese of Funen, are seeking an organist who, with professionalism, engagement and joy in collaboration, will contribute to a lively and relevant church life.

The position is 22 hours per week (57% of the time in Nørre Broby Church, 43% in Sønder Broby Church) with commencement on 1/1 2027.

Music with room for tradition and new ideas

As organist you will play a central role in the churches' musical life. You will support the congregation’s hymn-singing and create the musical framework for both Sunday services and major life events. The two churches each have their own parish council and their own priest, but share an organist and a church singer.

We are looking for an organist who is at home in the tradition of church music and at the same time curious about new hymns, different musical expressions and activities that can open the church to more people.

Your professionalism and ideas should help shape the musical life in both parishes. Development takes place in collaboration with the priests, church singer, other staff and the parish councils – with consideration of the position’s time and framework.

Your tasks

· Organ playing at high masses, services and church ceremonies in both churches.

· To support hymn-singing and to plan the music for the services in dialogue with the priests.

· To participate in special services and events in the parishes.

· To contribute to planning and execution of concerts and community-singing events – in churches and parish halls, e.g. participating in a twilight concert.

· Piano playing at services at the Care Center Åløkkeparken in Sønder Broby.

Depending on your competencies and the agreed division of tasks, the position may include choir work, musical activities for children and families, or participation in the confirmation program.

We are looking for you who can recognise yourself in most / several of the following descriptions

· Have a relevant organist education or equivalent musical qualifications.

· Play securely and vividly and understand the role of music in worship.

· Can accompany communal singing and preferably master both organ and piano.

· Want to bring your professionalism and ideas into a shared collaboration.

· Meet people with presence and understanding for the different situations that bring them to church.

· Work independently, prepare thoroughly and contribute to good coordination.

· Appreciate a workplace with open dialogue, helpfulness and respect for each other’s professionalism.

Experience with choral leadership or musical activities for children and young people is an advantage, as these activities may eventually be part of the final position. We also welcome applicants who are newly graduated.

About the instruments

· The organ at Sønder Broby Church is a Marcussen & Søn organ with 6 stops and pedal.

· The church also has an electric piano located in the tower room.

· The organ at Nørre Broby Church is a Marcussen & Søn organ with 7 stops and pedal.

· The church also has an electric piano located at the transition between the nave and the choir.

About the appointment

The appointment is made by Nørre Broby Parish Council, Præstegårds Allé 2, 5672 Broby.

Workplaces are Nørre Broby Church, Sønder Broby Church, Åløkkehaven Care Center in Sønder Broby.

The appointment of a church musician will be covered by the Common Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and CO10 and the organizational agreement between the Ministry of Towns, Rural Areas and Church and CO10 – Central Organization of 2010 for church officials with core duties such as parish clerk, church and cultural employee or church musician and the accompanying protocol for church musicians.

The appointment of an organist with a degree as “Church Musician with Organ and Choir Leadership” or an organist with a PO-qualification is covered by the Agreement between the Ministry of Towns, Rural Areas and Church and CO10 – Central Organization of 2010.

Organists with a church music bachelor’s or master’s degree are covered by the protocol to the academic agreement on the employment of DOKS organists and fixed teachers at church music schools concluded between Akademikerne and the Ministry of Towns, Rural Areas and Church.

Current civil service organists have the right to retain their civil service status upon appointment with direct transition. In that case, the position must be classified.

The annual salary for a church musician is negotiated within the range of 333,748 DKK – 475,590 DKK (current prices / full-time). There is a duty of availability for the position. The availability allowance amounts to 27,641 DKK per year (current prices / full-time).

OK allowance of 1,082 DKK (current prices / full-time).

An agreement on placing in the salary range is concluded between the Parish Council and the Danish Church Musicians Association before the appointment.

The annual salary for applicants with a church music master’s degree (DOKS) is negotiated according to the new pay AC scale. That is a gross salary between 363,169 DKK – 442,529 DKK per year (current prices / full-time).

There is a duty of availability for the position. The availability allowance amounts to annually between 46,727 DKK – 72,573 DKK (current prices / full-time). Placement and availability allowance are awarded according to seniority. In addition, a qualification and function allowance may be granted after local negotiation.

The annual salary for applicants with a church musician with education in organ and choir leadership (former PO organists) is negotiated according to the agreed basic pay scale. Basic step 1 amounts to 350,435 DKK per year (current prices / full-time) and basic step 2 amounts to 368,189 DKK per year (current prices / full-time). Placement occurs according to seniority.

There is a duty of availability for the position. The availability allowance amounts annually to 37,941 DKK (current prices / full-time) for service at 2-3 churches.

Salary, OK allowance and availability allowance are pro-rated in accordance with the position’s appointment fraction.

Interviews and audition are expected to take place in November/December 2026.

For the interview, the candidate will be asked to play a prelude of their own choice and two specified hymns (one old and one new).

The position is, as mentioned, to be filled on 1/1 2027 and is 22 hours.

The parish councils can disclose that references will be obtained by arrangement, and that there will be a trial period in the position.
