About the job
Do you want to help shape the future of Europe’s energy system and contribute to a fully carbon‑neutral, sustainable power grid? Are you a data engineer who is curious, open‑minded, and initiative-taking — someone who enjoys working in an explorative and collaborative environment? Do you want to collaborate with engineers, application developers, and data scientists to unlock insights from the vast amounts of data behind our services?
We are looking for a Data Engineer with BI expertise to join our Data and Analytics team at Nordic RCC. If you are excited about building robust data pipelines, developing high‑quality BI products, and enabling data‑driven decision‑making in a mission‑driven organization, we encourage you to apply — even if you don’t meet every requirement.
Nordic RCC – supporting security of supply and the green energy transition
Nordic Regional Coordination Centre (RCC) provides critical services and insights to support the national Transmission System Operators (TSOs) in Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark — to ensure the efficient operation and use of the Nordic power system and high security of power supply at any time.
Based in Copenhagen, Nordic RCC is one of six RCCs in Europe, equally owned by the Nordic region's four electricity TSOs: Fingrid, Statnett, Svenska Kraftnät, and Energinet.
As European power systems integrate and evolve to meet climate goals, Nordic RCC provides regional coordination, integrated services, regional insights and recommendations to the Nordic TSOs and their control centres, to support cross-border operational security 24/7.
Join Nordic RCC, a fast-developing company determined to make a significant impact in the energy sector and to provide for a secure and efficient transition to the green, sustainable energy system.
Right now, we are looking for a Data Engineer who likes to make a difference!
Job description
The Data and Analytics team consists of 10 employees and consultants and plays a central role in enabling data-driven decision-making across Nordic RCC. The team develops and maintains data pipelines, analytics products, BI solutions, platform services, and information services that support operational, strategic, and regulatory needs.
As a Data Engineer with BI expertise, you will help design, build, operate, and improve our analytics platform and the data products built on it. You will work closely with data scientists, engineers, developers, infrastructure teams, external providers, and stakeholders to deliver reliable data pipelines, intuitive BI solutions, and user-friendly data services.
Your work will directly influence how Nordic RCC uses data to improve processes, services, and operational decision-making. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines, data models, integrations, and curated datasets.
- Develop BI dashboards, reports, and data products that turn complex data into clear insights.
- Operate and improve analytics platform services, including data platforms, BI solutions, JupyterHub, user-facing analytics environments, and supporting applications.
- Ensure data quality, reliability, monitoring, and operational visibility across pipelines, BI products, and platform services.
- Monitor and optimize platform performance, resource use, computer storage, and analytical workloads.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, developers, infrastructure teams, external providers, and stakeholders to deliver production-ready analytics solutions.
- Support the development of platform architecture, metadata, governance practices, and service-oriented delivery models such as Data-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service.
- Document data flows, platform components, operational procedures, and technical solutions to support maintainability and knowledge sharing.
We are looking for someone with several of the following qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, BI Developer, Platform Engineer, Application Developer, or similar.
- Strong experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, modern data architectures, SQL, and data warehousing concepts.
- Hands-on experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar.
- Experience operating and optimizing analytics platforms in production environments.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies and analytics platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Azure Synapse, Snowflake, or similar.
- Familiarity with orchestration, monitoring, DevOps, CI/CD, Python, containerization, Kubernetes, storage solutions, or data platform infrastructure
- Experience operationalizing analytics models, enabling data consumption, or supporting service-oriented delivery models is an advantage.
- Knowledge of power systems and the energy sector is a plus, but not a requirement.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all the listed requirements. Your experience and perspective could be exactly what we are looking for.
