About the job
Do you want to help set the direction for Othello's continued development – and create the framework for a safe and meaningful life for the residents and a strong working community for the staff?
Othello Nursing Home is about to embark on an exciting development journey, where we set a new course for both professional quality, organization and culture. Therefore we are seeking a development-oriented and present department head who wants to make a difference and help to leave a clear imprint on Othello's future.
You will have a special opportunity to facilitate and translate an important cultural change into practice together with staff, the professional coordinator, the other leadership team and our partners. Our ambition is to strengthen and further develop the good experiences so that even more residents experience everyday life characterized by well-being, meaning and high quality of life.
About the position
As department head you will be responsible for operations, finances and personnel on selected floors as well as night shifts, activities and cleaning. You will also have a professional leadership responsibility for the nurse and SSA network.
You will have an overarching leadership responsibility for about 50 employees and will be a central part of Othello's overall leadership team.
Your task is to create a clear direction and good frameworks for a strong professional and organizational development. You do this in close collaboration with your professional coordinator, the other department head and the nursing home leader, as well as the staff at Othello.
We want a culture characterized by
- high professionalism and quality
- presence and respect
- trust, responsibility and involvement
- strong interdisciplinary collaboration
- shared responsibility for residents' well-being and quality of life
- learning and development in everyday life.
Your most important task is to ensure that the residents experience a safe, dignified and meaningful life. This requires that we see the individual, listen to wishes and needs, and base actions on the person’s resources, life history and wishes for daily life.
At the same time, you should help create a workplace characterized by trust, responsibility and professional pride, where employees' competencies and professionalism are actively used. You should support a common direction for the entire house and contribute to strengthening working communities across floors and professional groups, so that we collaborate on the overall core task. It is about creating a culture where we learn from each other, develop together and take joint responsibility for both professional quality and the overall development of the house.
We are looking for someone who…
You are an experienced leader who can stand firm in daily operations while also keeping an eye on long-term development.
We expect that you
- have a relevant educational background – preferably nurse
- have solid experience with personnel leadership and preferably experience from nursing homes or the elderly care sector
- build followership through clear, present and inclusive leadership
- can set a clear direction and create frameworks that support employees' professionalism and responsibility
- can develop strong interdisciplinary collaborations around the individual resident
- are passionate about developing holistic care and consistently focus on those we are here for
- can navigate safely between operations, quality and development tasks in a complex and dynamic daily life
- work purposefully with employee well-being, professional development as well as recruitment and retention
- involve employees and actively use the leadership team to find good and sustainable solutions
- have an eye for residents, their relatives and the local environment as important resources in developing everyday life at Othello
- are willing to challenge routines and workflows and translate new ideas into concrete practice.
You don't need to have all the answers upfront. The most important thing is that you have leadership professionalism, a will to develop, and the courage to lead, while also being able to create involvement and followership.
We offer
With us you get a leadership position with responsibility, influence and the opportunity to make your mark.
We offer
- an exciting and meaningful leadership position where you can apply your leadership experience and simultaneously develop professionally and personally
- a central role in the development of Othello and in the work to create a strong and sustainable culture
- an opportunity to shape the future of elderly care based on residents' needs, staff's professionalism and strong working communities
- engaged staff with high professionalism and a big heart for the residents
- a close and committed collaboration with the other leadership team
- access to a strong leadership network across Senior and Health in Fredericia Municipality
- a workplace with ambitions to make a real difference for residents, relatives and staff.
