About the job

Would you like to help build and develop the Defence's drone capability?

Drones are changing the modern battlefield at a pace rarely seen before. In the business area for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) we are responsible that the Defence always has the right and most relevant drones – from small handheld systems to larger tactical surveillance drones.

We are expanding our capacity and are now looking for two new colleagues who, as experts in AI, algorithms and software, will help drive the development of the Defence's drone capabilities forward. You will become part of a strong professional environment where engineering, operational understanding and international cooperation go hand in hand.

About us

The business area for UAS buys, implements, updates and operates drones for the entire Defence. We work closely with users, industry and international partners in NATO, NORDEFCO and EDA. Development is fast, and you will have the opportunity to influence one of the most significant technological transformations in the Danish defence. The development also means that our own organization develops together with both the technology and the size of our task portfolio.

With us you will become part of one of our two drone sections Fixed Wing or Rotary Wing, where we work at the crossroads between technology, operational needs and procurement processes. We are a section in growth, and you will get responsibility, influence and good opportunities for professional development. We are a section that emphasizes well-being, development and that it should be fun to go to work highly.

Travel activity is to be expected – both to suppliers, industry fairs, international collaborations and visits to Defence units.

About the positions

We have a strong grasp of mechanics, electronics and system design. Therefore we now seek two new colleagues to be our experts in the software part of our drone systems. The two positions have the same focus on AI, algorithms and software, although they are placed in each their section.

To succeed in the position you must be ready to participate in testing and validation of drone systems and the autonomous functions they come with. That means you must be able to understand the suppliers' coding and validate whether the systems deliver what they should. It is regardless of whether the function is an image recognition algorithm, an autonomous navigation system or some third software element.

About you

We imagine that you

  • Have a relevant technical education at bachelor or master level – e.g. computer engineering, computer science, advanced computer science, software design or similar.
  • Are curious, collaborative and thrive in dialogue with soldiers, technicians, academics and suppliers
  • Would like to learn new things and dive into technical details
  • May be newly graduated – motivation, professional interest and drive are highly valued

Employment terms

The employment is carried out in accordance with the currently applicable agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

Depending on your qualifications and competences, there is a possibility for negotiating supplements. There is an employer-funded pension scheme tied to the position.

The workplace is in Ballerup.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defence's area you are subject to certain special conditions. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the entire employment.

You as an employee have a duty to render service outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian and other similar operations.
