About the job

Do you have experience with regulatory processing within wastewater, and would you like to work with one of Denmark's most ambitious wastewater treatment plants? Then you may be our new colleague in City and Nature in Aarhus Municipality.

You will play a central role in the work on Aarhus ReWater, while also handling other assignments within wastewater and stormwater. You will become part of a professional environment where we work together to protect the aquatic environment and find good solutions to complex tasks.

About us

In City and Nature in Technical and Environment, we work to develop and take care of our cities, landscapes and natural areas. We solve a wide range of tasks within nature, environment and regulatory processing and collaborate across disciplines and with citizens, businesses and external partners. Our goal is to create sustainable solutions that take into account both people, nature and the environment as well as applicable legislation.

About the position

In 2027, Aarhus ReWater will occupy a large part of your workload. As the project progresses, you will increasingly work with the rest of the portfolio of cases within wastewater and stormwater.

Your tasks will include discharge permits as well as assessments of water quality, impact on the aquatic environment and environmental contaminants. You will play an important role in assessing how discharges affect the aquatic environment, and in ensuring that applicable legislation and environmental targets are met.

You will have a broad contact surface and will collaborate closely with, among others, Aarhus Vand, external consultants and colleagues across the municipality. We therefore seek a colleague who can work independently, contribute with their professional knowledge and engage in constructive collaboration to find good and durable solutions.

Your tasks can for example be

  • process applications and prepare discharge permits
  • work with the regulatory processing of Aarhus ReWater
  • assess water quality, recipient impact and environmental contaminants
  • ensure that discharges are assessed in relation to applicable legislation and environmental targets
  • handle other cases within wastewater and stormwater.

We imagine that you

  • have a relevant academic education in, for example, environment, natural science or engineering
  • have several years of experience with regulatory processing within wastewater, preferably from a municipality, utility or consultancy
  • have knowledge of water quality and impacts on the aquatic environment
  • can create an overview and handle complex cases with many stakeholders
  • communicate clearly and well in Danish, both orally and in writing
  • work independently and in a structured manner and follow your tasks through to completion
  • are curious and thrive on professional sparring and collaboration.

We offer

  • exciting and varied tasks
  • good opportunities for professional development
  • a good introduction to Aarhus Municipality and your new tasks
  • flexible working hours and the opportunity to plan the work in collaboration with your manager and colleagues, including vacation, flexitime and remote work
  • a good collegial community and social events through, among other things, the staff association.
