About the job
About the Job
In our multidisciplinary team, we are looking for a colleague with professional competencies to work with physically and mentally developmentally disabled citizens. You are e.g. trained an occupational therapist, a psychomotor therapist or possess a similar professional profile. Your personality and willingness to strengthen the meaningful life for our residents is a decisive factor. We hope that you also love technological aids, communication aids, sensory stimulation and have knowledge about dysphagia. These are areas we want an extra sharp focus on in the future.
The position is 37 hours/week. But it is possible to adjust the position's hours based on your wishes.
At Lisbjerghus we practice strong focus on strengthening residents' hope, dreams and wishes – both those that shape daily life and those that reach further in life.
The residential community has 14 residents aged 22-45 with reduced physical and cognitive functioning and who therefore to varying degrees have need for support and help based on an individually tailored approach. Some residents are almost self-sufficient with a need for support in daily structure and activities. A few residents need massive help with almost all practical and personal tasks.
It can require a lot of detective work to determine if residents with developmental disabilities are sick. It therefore also requires professional effort to support doctors and hospital staff in spotting what is at stake, as it is often not obvious.
The residents' needs can e.g. be support/help for practical tasks – getting up and going to day services, tidying their own apartment, help with basic finances, personal hygiene, healthy living etc. It can also be support to engage in social contexts, including contact with relatives and other networks. Some residents require accompaniment in connection with doctor and dentist visits etc.
You must, with your professional lens, contribute with attention to development and maintenance of the residents' functions, taking into account cognitive difficulties, physical and psychiatric diagnoses, vision and hearing impairments, spasticity and/or movement impairment, including insufficient processing of sensory stimuli. We have aids available to support the residents' ADL activities, but an increased focus here, we believe, can give residents increased independence.
All residents have goals/subgoals for their lives, which we support them in achieving. Some residents have work, others have activity offers and some are best off always being at home in familiar surroundings. We collaborate with staff at the residents' activity offers, including through professional sparring and VISO processes.
We work professionally with methods such as KRAP, neuro-pedagogy, Low arousal, ASC, open dialogue and a sensory-stimulating approach.
You will become part of an multidisciplinary staff group of pedagogues, pedagogical assistants, social and health care helpers, a physiotherapist, care assistants, night shifters, house assistant, duty planner and department head, who is an occupational therapist. In addition, we have an awake night shift in the house and some skilled hourly paid substitutes. We are also a training venue for pedagogues and social and health care assistants. Common to all at Lisbjerghus is that we are passionate about working with the residents and their relatives.
Working hours
Working hours cover all days of the week. You must be prepared that there will be mostly evening and weekend shifts (but also day shifts) – which, in turn, means a lot of substitute-free weekdays. The shifts vary somewhat, but lie in the time frame 06:30-22:30. Since we are a 24/7 service, there will be weekend work every 2nd weekend.
Christmas, New Year, holidays and summer holiday are planned separately.
Your professional profile
We wish that you,
- You have a background and preferably experience as e.g. an occupational therapist or psychomotor therapist.
- You preferably have experience with the target group.
- You may be creative and can initiate relevant and stimulating ADL activities for residents
- You should have knowledge and experience with sensory-stimulating approaches and dysphagia.
- You see the value in supporting residents to become self-reliant, e.g. through relevant and adapted aids and communication aids.
- You have a desire for and experience with collaboration with relatives.
- You want to contribute to a good working environment with your professional approach and feel comfortable in a multidisciplinary team, but can also work independently.
- You work in a structured and systematic way and always with the residents' goals and needs as the starting point.
- You are familiar with IT and see documentation as an important part of collaboration and in working with otherwise communication-weak residents
- You communicate with respect towards residents, relatives, colleagues and the manager.
- You take responsibility in the shared task solving – even when it is not strictly professional.
Your personal profile
- You are reliable and flexible.
- You are motivated to make a difference for people with permanently reduced function.
- You are solution-oriented and able to find alternative solutions with your good overview.
- You believe in the good intentions in others' actions, but also dare to question what you see – and you dare to challenge “we've always done it this way.”
- You are present, with good humor and a positive view of people that can inspire your surroundings.
- You actively participate in the practical tasks that arise in a holistic care home, including care, where you handle the task with professionally relevant reflections on the resident's ADL.
- You are not deterred by working weekends and evenings
If you can see yourself in the above, we look forward to receiving your reasoned application, where we want you to describe how your professional profile will fit with us.
