About the job
Are you a trained Flight Procedure Designer (FPD), do you have aviation experience – or do you have a strong technical, mathematical or analytical background and a desire to learn a specialized field within aviation? Then you may be our new colleague in the Danish Transport Authority's aviation department.
With us you will have a central role in the Danish Transport Authority's work with instrument flight procedures, PANS-OPS and safe access to Danish airports. You will help process notifications, review and assess flight procedures, participate in supervision of the FPD provider and, in due course, make decisions when you are authorized.
You do not necessarily need to have worked in aviation before. The most important thing is that you have the right professional curiosity, good spatial, technical and analytical understanding, and motivation to complete the necessary education and training. If you have knowledge of aviation, flight operations, navigation or procedure design, that is a clear advantage.
Welcome to your new team
You will become part of a team of about 20 employees who work with aviation services in the Danish Transport Authority. The team is responsible for rules, approvals and supervision within, among other things, air traffic services, airspace, meteorology, CNS, AIM/data and flight procedures.
The FPD area is a specialized area within the team. You will become a central professional who either already has — or must develop — the internal FPD competence within the Danish Transport Authority. You will therefore play a central role in our work with instrument flight procedures and in the continued development of the Transport Authority's internal professional capacity in this field.
You are not alone. The team is organized with a team leader and professional coordinators who support the various professional areas. In the FPD area you will receive support from the team leader, professional coordinator and relevant colleagues, including within AIS/data and other related areas. During a transition period there will also be external FPD specialists attached to support training and professional sparring.
Here is what your everyday life will look like with us
In the position you will work with the Transport Authority's tasks within flight procedures and Flight Procedure Design. You will have a daily life where you work with concrete flight procedures and with the rules, processes and professional assessments that underlie our handling of the area. The work also involves dialogue with, among others, airports, procedure designers and other relevant actors.
If you are not already trained as a Flight Procedure Designer, an important part of the first period will be education, training and professional development. You will gradually take on more tasks as your experience and competence grow.
Your tasks will include, among other things
- process notifications and applications in the FPD area
- review and assess material on instrument flight procedures
- participate in supervision of the FPD provider together with relevant colleagues
- prepare professional assessments and in due course make decisions on behalf of the Danish Transport Authority when you are authorized
- collaborate with external FPD specialists in training and transition periods
- collaborate with colleagues within, among other things, AIS/data, airspace and other related areas
- contribute to building and maintaining the Transport Authority's internal FPD competence
About you
We imagine that you are either trained Flight Procedure Designer, have experience with flight procedures or have a technical, mathematical or analytical background that provides you with a good foundation for learning the FPD field.
You could, for example, have a background as a pilot, air traffic controller, engineer, physicist, mathematician or from another area where you have worked with complex technical problems, spatial understanding, data, rules or safety.
It is an advantage if you have knowledge of aviation, flight operations, navigation, airspace, AIS/data or PANS-OPS, but it is not a requirement.
The most important thing is that you have the desire and ability to learn a specialized field where detail, systematic thinking and safety considerations are crucial. You must be able to work in a structured way, understand complex material and maintain an overview, even when a case involves many professional and regulatory interfaces.
You must enjoy working at the Danish Transport Authority as the aviation authority, where professional assessments must be able to be documented and translated into clear dialogue with both colleagues and external actors. At the same time you must be eager to join a team where sparring, knowledge sharing and joint professional development are a natural part of everyday life.
What you get with us
When we say that we are a flexible workplace, where it is important that our employees experience balance between working hours and leisure – we mean it.
Our core hours are 9-14 and 10-14 on Mondays. This is when we expect you to be available and to work as a baseline, but it does not mean you only work in this time frame. Outside core hours you have the opportunity to plan the rest of your workday flexibly, as long as it fits with tasks and meetings.
If you work more than your 37 hours, you accumulate flex. You can use it either as full or half flex days or as shorter working days for a period. In general you have good opportunities to plan and manage your workday yourself – both when you are in the office and when you are on supervision. You can also work from home up to two days a week if your tasks permit.
We are a workplace with employees in different life stages and with different needs throughout working life. Therefore we give you the option of tailored working hours, leave, flex jobs, extra time and reduced hours if that is what you need.
Salary and terms of employment
The position is 37 hours per week. Employment is according to the applicable agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the relevant professional organization with the possibility of negotiating allowances based on qualifications.
It is a condition of your employment that you can be security cleared to the level CONFIDENTIAL and maintain the security clearance.
If you are not trained as a Flight Procedure Designer, it is a condition that you have passed mathematics at B level and also that you are not intimidated by numbers and mathematics. It is a condition of your employment that you can pass the entry exam for the basic FPD training within the first 3 months.
The position is available from February 1, 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.
