Educator for active and structured days with a 12-year-old boy

Can you create structure while being curious about what motivates? We are seeking a pedagogue who can take initiative and create a predictable and meaningful day together with a 12-year-old boy.

About the task

The boy has autism and ADHD. He communicates well and is good at expressing his needs, but his energy levels can vary a lot. When he becomes tired or stressed, he can become louder, repeat words and phrases, or withdraw and communicate very briefly. Here you need to read the situation, stay calm, and help adjust demands and pace.

He is impulsive and may have difficulty delaying his own needs. At the same time, he has a strong need to be involved and to know what will happen. Therefore he benefits from clear and manageable frameworks, e.g. a plan with few bullet points and choices. This gives him the opportunity for participation within a structure that you as a pedagogue help maintain.

Your task will be to take the initiative and help him enter into activities, as he has difficulty creating frames himself and sticking with what he starts. It is important that you can motivate without pressuring and be aware of signs that he needs fewer demands or more calm.

The boy enjoys experiences and activities with a concrete purpose. He is interested in nature, fishing, animals, swimming, cooking, and creative or practical projects. For example, it could be building something in nature or going on a trip, where you help him create an overview of the practical aspects along the way.

About you

You are a trained pedagogue and preferably have experience with autism and ADHD or with children who need clear structure and support for regulation.

You can take pedagogical leadership in a calm way and create a clear framework, while the boy experiences being heard and included. You are attentive to changes in his energy and can adjust activities, communication, and demands accordingly.

It is an advantage if you are practical and idea-driven, but most importantly, you can translate his interests into activities within a clear framework and support him in getting started and staying with them.

Working hours

The position is 15 hours per week, spread over two weekdays from 07:45–15:15.

The two workdays are to be chosen from Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
