About the job

Do you want to help strengthen Region Nordjylland's overall crisis preparedness? Are you motivated by developing emergency response in a large, complex organization – and can you translate professional knowledge into concrete plans in collaboration with the region's hospitals and companies? Then you are well on your way to becoming an emergency preparedness specialist with us.

As the portfolio of tasks grows and the requirements for Region Nordjylland's robustness are tightened, we are expanding the unit with several new employees

About the Emergency Preparedness Unit

In the Region Nordjylland Emergency Preparedness Unit we work with emergency planning, resilience and crisis management across hospitals and companies. Therefore we are now seeking several emergency preparedness specialists with solid emergency management knowledge and a desire to be part of a smaller unit where we collaborate closely on the tasks.

Our everyday life

We have a diverse daily life with short lines of communication, high professional standards and ongoing sparring with each other. Despite our size we have a major task: to develop, maintain and support the region's overall emergency preparedness and crisis management.

The unit is also responsible for Region Nordjylland's health emergency preparedness plan, and you as an emergency preparedness specialist will have a large co-responsibility to maintain and develop this plan alongside the other emergency tasks.

The unit is based on Hjulmagervej in Aalborg together with the Prehospital Care Service, and you will become part of a small team with the head of emergency management as your immediate supervisor.

Your tasks

As an emergency preparedness specialist you will have a varied portfolio of tasks, where you will have ample opportunity to use your professional competencies. You will, among other things:

  • Prepare emergency plans and risk and vulnerability analyses in collaboration with hospitals and companies.
  • Coordinate and consolidate emergency plans across organizations so that they are standardized, up-to-date and easy to use.
  • Support companies and hospitals in their emergency work – often with physical presence on the region's sites.
  • Participate in projects and development tasks as an emergency management cornerstone.
  • Actively contribute to the development of the unit and the region's overall emergency preparedness in general.
  • Build and maintain networks with key personnel at hospitals and companies.
  • In due course train staff in emergency and exercise planning according to the Emergency Management Agency's guidelines.
  • Plan, facilitate and evaluate emergency exercises, and ensure that learning is translated into new initiatives.
  • Participate in emergency management committees and network groups with municipalities and regions.
  • Take part in the unit's common administrative and operational tasks.

The tasks may vary over time – the emergency area is dynamic, and you will have the opportunity to influence the direction with your competencies.

Who are you?

We are looking for a colleague with a solid emergency management background. You may, for example, have a degree as a catastrophe and risk manager or education and experience from operative sectors such as police, rescue services, ambulance service, defense, Emergency Management Agency etc.

In addition, we place emphasis on the following

  • You thrive in relational roles and are good at building relationships with key people in companies and hospitals.
  • You can work independently and at the same time contribute constructively to joint task solving.
  • You are systematic and structured – and have an eye for making plans, exercises and initiatives fit into daily life with our partners in the clinic and administration.
  • You are curious, proactive and contribute to developing the emergency area in the region.
  • You are a strong communicator – both in writing and verbally.
  • You can proactively gather and translate knowledge about new legislation, professional guidelines and changes in the threat landscape into practice.
  • You want to work in a politically governed organization where strategic decisions and priorities set the framework.
  • You have a driving license (B).

It is an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have insight into societal security, supply security, cybersecurity, crisis management and/or security-political matters.

We offer…

As an emergency preparedness specialist in Region Nordjylland you will experience that you:

  • Have the opportunity to influence the concrete tasks based on your qualifications and professional interests.
  • Have a great degree of personal freedom to solve your tasks, including the possibility of remote work by agreement.
  • Contribute to unlocking the unit's potential and setting the standard for how the unit handles tasks.
  • Have a varied daily life with tasks both in the office and on site at hospitals and in companies.
  • Receive ongoing feedback on your tasks.
