About the job

Would you like to help shape the future of child and adolescent psychiatry? Would you like to help establish new initiatives and continue the development of our highly specialized assessment and treatment services for young people aged 14 to 18 years? Do you place high value on professionalism and have a sense for supporting professional development with a focus on research? Then you are the person we are looking for!

Job description

We are seeking a leading chief physician in Team 2 for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (TUP 2). In this context we are expanding the department’s leadership, so it will consist of three functional leaders going forward. You will, together with our chief nurse and another health professional leader (in the posting), lead the continued development of a modern and sustainable child and adolescent psychiatry, where high professional quality goes hand in hand with timely assessment and treatment. The position will primarily be based in Skejby.

This is a position for you who are motivated by taking on a demanding and meaningful leadership task, where you will have real responsibility for creating a clear professional direction.

You will, in close collaboration with the rest of the section leadership, undertake management tasks such as personnel responsibility, financial responsibility, and the continued focus on developing the youth area as well as planning good patient pathways.

With a basis in the 10-year plan for psychiatry, you will be a driving force in the development of the future child and adolescent psychiatry, where increased capacity, high quality, innovation, research, competence development and attractive work communities go hand in hand for the benefit of patients, relatives, and staff.

You will help provide the necessary and sufficient assessment and treatment for our patients and their relatives in a strong collaboration with both internal and external partners. You will play a central role in translating national ambitions into concrete improvements for patients and staff, and you must be able to lead in turning the acute plan into reality, so that waiting lists are reduced and we meet the UBR requirements while ensuring a balance to maintain professional quality.

This means you should contribute to optimizing capacity utilization through efficient workflows, high professional quality, and appropriate use of the department’s total resources through data-driven leadership.

As chief physician you will become part of BUA’s management group consisting of 25 leaders, where we have a close and committed collaboration with a focus on how we as a collective leadership can operate and develop BUA to benefit staff and patients.

Qualifications

You are ambitious and innovative.

You will be involved in leading outpatient patient pathways and wish to contribute to the development of the overall Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

  • you are a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry or in adult psychiatry
  • have experience with or a desire for leadership and development
  • wish to ensure an assessment and treatment offering to young people of high professional quality within UBR
  • have the ability to manage workflows and scheduling in an interdisciplinary staff group
  • are clear in your communication, structured and have a good overview
  • have good collaboration skills.

About the department

TUP2 is an outpatient unit for youths and part of the Children’s and Adolescent Psychiatry Department, AUH.

The outpatient child and adolescent psychiatry consists of two units (TUP 1 and TUP 2). Both teams provide assessment and treatment for youths aged 14 to 18 (21) with complex juvenile psychiatric disorders. There is a close and committed collaboration between management and staff across TUP 1 and TUP 2 with the aim of ensuring good, harmonized patient pathways and a good working environment.

TUP2 handles examination and treatment of youths aged 14 to 18 (21) with moderate to severe psychiatric disorders, including ADHD, autism, affective disorders, and personality disorders. There are often youths with complex difficulties and a high degree of comorbidity. TUP2 has a highly specialized function for patients with personality disorders, ADHD, and bipolar disorder.

TUP2 is spread across two sites: Aarhus University Hospital, Skejby (about 50 staff) and Region Hospital Viborg (about 8 staff). The team thus has a total of 55-60 skilled and multidisciplinary staff. The department consists of doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers and a secretary, and together we focus on ensuring patients and their relatives a coherent pathway where high professionalism is present throughout.

We also have a strong focus on staff leadership and a good working environment, where working hours and tasks are harmonized. We wish for a workplace where both recruitment and retention of staff are given high priority.

We offer

  • a close collaboration within the department leadership, where the leadership task is shared
  • mentorship program with a leadership introduction program for new leaders developed by the leadership group in BUA
  • a workplace that has patient and staff involvement and a good working environment as important guiding principles, and which has had good TULE results
  • an engaged and experienced staff group
  • opportunity for further education in leadership
  • opportunity to perform clinical activities to a limited extent
  • an department/unit where research and quality in both assessment and treatment are of great importance
  • a department/section secretary who supports the leadership in fulfilling the department’s tasks.
