About the job

Do you want to lead a forensic psychiatric ward – and help create the framework for both staff wellbeing and high quality in patient treatment?

There is a difference between delivering good treatment – and setting the direction for it. In forensic psychiatry at the Psychiatric Center Sct. Hans, it is a leadership task, and we call it the shared professional foundation. As chief nurse you will, in close collaboration with the department’s head physician, translate the shared professional foundation into practice.

A little about Unit A1 and your upcoming workplace.

Unit A1 is a forensic psychiatric inpatient ward with 16 patients, primarily diagnosed within the schizophrenia spectrum and admitted under A- or B-sentences. The patients' average length of stay is about five years, and the overall purpose of the treatment is to prevent new crime through a targeted, holistic and recovery-oriented effort.

You will lead a professionally strong and engaged staff group that works in multidisciplinary patient contact teams in close cooperation with the unit’s social worker, psychologist and chief physician. The unit has for many years built solid competencies in, among other things, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dual diagnosis treatment and motivational interviewing (MI), and the staff are characterized by high professionalism, willingness to develop and a strong focus on patient involvement.

Tools BVC, START and HCR20, the weekly supervision sessions and professional forums, several Safewards principles and a good staffing level provide the safety foundation for our work, which has a strong focus on de-escalation and preserving patients' self-control. In addition to professional and individual patient treatment, humor, good collegiality, low sickness absence and coherence between private and working life are high priority at A1.

Welcome to ’The View’

You will spend your days in ”The View” – a new modern building in beautiful surroundings by Roskilde Fjord, which creates new opportunities for rehabilitative activities and time for the core task.

Your role as chief nurse

As chief nurse you will have a broad leadership role that includes professional leadership, staff leadership, operations management and development of the unit.

Our patients are often severely mentally ill and admitted under legal measures. This places high demands on professionalism, structure and collaboration – and on you as a leader.

  • lead, motivate and develop an experienced and engaged staff group
