About the job

Aarhus University pushes the boundaries of knowledge through groundbreaking research and has a historically high intake of external research funding, including EU funds.

Therefore we are looking for a dedicated EU project advisor for administration and management of EU grants.

Our mission is to make life easier for Aarhus University's researchers. You will be part of an ambitious team in the Research Support Unit (FSE), advising researchers at Aarhus University and at Aarhus University Hospital in acquiring funding and ensuring good management of larger research projects. FSE has about 24 colleagues and is part of AU Research together with two sister offices focusing on contracts (TTO) and compliance (FDK).

Our new colleague

We are seeking a colleague with experience in financial and administrative support and advisory services, and preferably with experience in administering projects under the EU's research framework programs.

You are distinctly structured and work in a detail-oriented manner with your tasks without it impeding your ability to maintain an overview and prioritise your own tasks. We work under changing deadlines and conditions, so we emphasise that you are adaptable. At the same time you thrive in collaboration – both in your team, across AU Research and across the university's disciplines.

You will become part of our experienced post-award team of five employees, who value collaboration, sparring, professional development and an informal tone. Your tasks will mainly concern EU coordinator projects, where you follow the projects for several years in close collaboration with researchers. For the right profile, pre-award advisory and tasks can also come into play.

The duties will include, among others

  • Daily administrative and financial project administration and advisory, both in the contract preparation phase, during the project's duration and at its completion.
  • Quality assurance, including administrative and financial reporting with regard to compliance with EU rules and adherence to contracts.
  • External contact and collaboration with project partners in other countries and EU Project Officers in Brussels.
  • Internal contact and collaboration primarily with researchers/grant holders and project controllers as well as other colleagues at Aarhus University.
  • Meeting preparation for and participation in project meetings, which are usually virtual.
  • Development and communication of reporting tools and other aid tools.

As our new colleague you have

  • Relevant education at master's level.
  • The ability to take ownership of your own project portfolio and independently organise your tasks in relation to deadlines across projects.
  • Well-developed numeracy and ease with complex reporting and disbursements, hence familiarity with Excel is essential.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills, including good English skills and willingness to present in English in front of many partners.
  • Conditions to interpret and relay rules and guidelines.
  • Interest in working with compliance regarding research contracts and rules.
  • Focus on helpfulness and professionalism.

Application deadline is 11 November 2026.

Interviews are expected to be held on 20 November 2026. There may possibly be a second interview.

Expected start date is no later than 1 February 2026 – preferably earlier if possible.

The primary place of employment is at the Research Support Unit in the Navitas building, Inge Lehmans Gade 10, Aarhus C, until AU Research moves to Universitetsparken, building 1182, in spring 2027.

Salary and employment terms follow the agreement for Academics in the State ( see the agreement here ). You are employed as a legal advisor at basic salary grade 4-8 with a location allowance. For the right candidate there will be opportunities for placement as specialist or senior consultant with pay according to Annex 4 of the agreement.

Aarhus University will be an attractive and inspiring workplace for all and wishes a culture where each individual can develop and grow. We view equality and diversity as a resource and encourage all interested to apply.
