Experienced social worker for authority work in the Addiction Department

Are you an experienced social worker who has a good grasp of the law and thrives in authority work? Can you also meet people in vulnerable life situations with respect and understanding? Then perhaps you are the person we are looking for in the Addiction Department in Vesthimmerland Municipality.

As a social worker in the Addiction Department you will have a central role in the authority work in the substance misuse area with responsibility for case processing, visitation and official decisions. You will also participate in tasks in the crisis center area and be an authority-related sparring partner for the colleague who has the primary responsibility in the care/assistance area. In addition, you may, if needed, take on tasks in the broader vulnerable area.

The Addiction Department consists of 14 staff with various social and health professional competences. We are responsible for the vulnerable area in the municipality, including tasks under the Social Services Act §§ 109 and 110 in the crisis center and care areas. In addition, we handle substance treatment under the Social Services Act § 101, alcohol treatment under the Health Act § 141, and substitution treatment under the Health Act § 142. We also work with Housing First initiatives.

We offer services in both Aars and Løgstør and cooperate closely with internal and external partners to ensure a coherent effort for citizens.

The service location is in Aars, but work takes place across the municipality and in citizens' own homes.

Your primary tasks will be

• To conduct visitation interviews and carry out social-work assessments and authority decisions in the substance misuse area
• To hold advisory and clarifying conversations with citizens in open counseling
• To manage case processing, including documentation, party notification, reasoning, appeal guidance and follow-up
• To participate in relevant tasks in the crisis center area
• To contribute to the development and quality assurance of the department's authority practices and workflows

We are looking for a social worker who

• Is a trained social worker with solid experience from municipal authority work, preferably within the specialized social field
• Has a good knowledge of relevant social legislation and experience in drafting authority decisions
• Works independently and in a structured manner and has strong written skills
• Can navigate complex citizen cases and maintain an overview
• Contributes actively to the community with good humor and collegial support

Experience from the substance misuse field is an advantage but not a requirement. The most important thing is that you have a solid authority-related foundation and a desire to learn new professional areas.

A valid driver's license is a prerequisite.
