External lecturer in Dermatology and Venereology, AUH

Institute for Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Health at Aarhus University, Health, is seeking 1 external lecturer in Dermatology and Venereal Diseases (Dermatology and Venereology), AUH as of 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a 5-year part-time appointment with responsibilities of 50 working hours per semester.

Institute for Clinical Medicine

As an external lecturer at the Institute for Clinical Medicine you will be part of what is likely the largest health science research institute in Denmark. The clinical research covers all medical specialties and takes place in collaboration with the university hospital and regional hospitals in the Central Denmark Region. We have about 30,000 square meters of modern research facilities for experimental surgery and medicine, animal facilities, and advanced scanners.

The institute has overall responsibility for the graduate programs in Medicine and in Molecular Medicine. At the institute we are about 670 scientific staff, 500 PhD students and 160 technical/administrative staff working across disciplines. As an external lecturer you will work at Aarhus University Hospital or another hospital in the Central Denmark Region. You can read more about the institute here and about the faculty here .

Your responsibilities

As an external lecturer you contribute to the development of the institute’s subject area through teaching of high international quality. Your primary tasks are to develop, plan and conduct teaching within the department’s or unit’s specialty and the applicable study plan. In your daily work you will have close interaction with competent colleagues.

Your tasks will primarily consist of

• Carry out teaching, lectures, courses and examinations
• Conduct supervision (e.g. individual trajectories, thesis)
• Plan teaching (e.g. UPL function, elective courses, individual trajectories)
• Contribute to the development of new teaching activities.
• Examine and conduct evaluations (assignment development, oral examination, assessment of MCQ and short answers, OSCE, competence cards, individual trajectories)
• Contribute to a good working environment and a good study environment.

As an external lecturer you commit to the agreed number of annual work hours, which in this context as a starting point will constitute an extent of 25 hours per semester. Another hour extent may be agreed as part of the employment.

• You have solid practical experience within the department’s field and are keen to teach medical students in clinical subjects.
• It is an advantage if you have teaching qualifications.
• As a person you are dedicated and have good communication skills.
• You will share responsibility for developing the institute’s education at the highest international level and for maintaining a good working environment.
• We expect you to speak and write Danish.

Remuneration

Employment and remuneration are in accordance with the Circular on agreements for external lecturers at universities.

The hourly wage per working hour amounts to 247.01 DKK in base amount (level 31 March 2012). The amount is paid in the semester, normally monthly in arrears with 1/5, as there is no payment in July and August.

Basis of employment

• Employment as external lecturer requires qualifications at graduate level.
• Furthermore, employment as external lecturer requires either relevant high-level practical experience not obtained through a university scientific appointment, or employment in a scientific full-time position at another university.
• An external lecturer appointed on the basis of relevant practical experience must have in-depth, current knowledge of the subject field’s applications. This is obtained through employment in the field.
• In addition, employment as external lecturer requires teaching qualifications to be included in the assessment of applicants for an external lectureship.
