About the job
Do you have strong professional expertise in Danish and English? Can you make the subjects relevant and meaningful for young people? Do you want to work on making FGU youths study-ready for upper secondary education, including the upcoming EPX? Then you might be the new colleague we are looking for to our teacher team at the FGU school in Køge.
About the position
We are seeking a committed Danish- and English teacher primarily to teach at our General Basic Education (AGU) at the FGU school in Køge. AGU faces an exciting development in connection with the large restructuring of youth education up to 2030. Our focus will be even more on planning instruction in general subjects that raise the students’ academic level and study competencies, so they become ready for a gymnasium education including EPX.
You will have good opportunities to influence the development as you work in close collaboration with other teachers and the management to adapt AGU to the future education landscape and participate in strengthened cooperation with both gymnasiums and upcoming providers of EPX. At AGU we work practice-based with general subjects with a focus on moving teaching out of the classroom and into reality, where young people can see the relevance of what they learn.
We believe that young people learn best when we connect subject knowledge with practice, real problems and concrete projects that enable them to create value for others.
About you
To be a candidate for the position you must have teaching competencies in Danish and English at the primary/elementary school level. Your educational background could be, for example, aPrimary school teacher or bachelor/master in Danish and/or English or another relevant humanities subject.
It is important for us that you can create safe, motivating learning environments with clear frameworks and high well-being, and that you can participate in cross-disciplinary teaching processes with the other teachers in the team. You must thrive in the role of framework setter, facilitator and clear leader of learning processes, organize the teaching in committed communities and be focused on creating energy in the classroom.
Finally, you must be willing to work with a diverse group of young people and see it as your task to support them in their academic, personal and social development.
In addition, we place emphasis on that you
- have strong subject knowledge in Danish and English and can make the subjects relevant and meaningful for the students
- can develop subjects and teaching in accordance with applicable curricula and didactic principles and with a basis in practice-based learning (PBL)
- will contribute with your professionalism and commitment to the development of our future AGU
- can create relationships, structure and clear frameworks and motivation for learning in general subjects
- can undertake the role of contact teacher, including conducting student talks and ensuring necessary documentation
- are approachable and outgoing and can navigate among students, colleagues and external partners
You will receive
- An exciting, challenging and varied daily life in a full-time position of 37 hours per week including teaching, preparation and pedagogical meals in the form of breakfast and lunch together with the students.
- Good opportunities to influence the development of Danish- and English-teaching at AGU with project-based learning as a central learning principle.
- A strong team collaboration with other teachers with the common goal of planning practice-based and holistic teaching that motivates the target group to learn.
- A meaningful job where you can play a decisive role in the young people's future opportunities in life.
- Close collaboration with the school counselors regarding the students’ development, well-being and progression.
- Close collaboration with the management around the pedagogical framework for the teaching.

Our common task is to strengthen the students’ academic, personal and social development and at the same time ensure their well-being, so they are well equipped to complete a youth education and/or achieve lasting employment.
Our promises to the students
We have developed an educational didactic framework and formulated five promises to the students, which all staff work to fulfil. The promises are as follows:
- I promise to greet you with a smile every day and do what I can to make your school day both fun and educational.
- I promise to wipe the slate clean every day and put behind me the bad choices you and I made yesterday.
- I promise to do what I can to make your time at FGU your best school time.
- I promise that I will never give up helping you become the best version of yourself.
- I promise that I will support you in achieving the goals you set and in succeeding in your own life.
It is important to us that you want to work with the promises to our students. We expect you to assist them loyally in both actions and behavior.
