About the job
Would you like to help strengthen the safety and resilience in the Capital Region?
The Capital's Emergency Service is looking for an engaged prevention inspector who is passionate about making a difference through fire inspections.
As a prevention inspector you will help ensure the robustness of municipalities and businesses and their ability to prevent and handle crises and accidents. We do this, among other things, through fire inspections, which is the main focus of this position. In other words, you will have a unique opportunity to work on fire prevention very close to the residents and visitors of the Capital Region.
Your responsibilities
The Capital's Emergency Service annually conducts inspections of 3,500-4,000 businesses, institutions and other places with an increased fire or personal safety risk.
Your primary tasks will be to
- Carry out fire inspections at competency levels 1 + 2 + 3
- Contribute to professional development for the fire inspection area in the Capital's Emergency Service and at national level
In fire inspections you assess fire safety in buildings with increased fire risk. This can include, for example, institutions, care homes, shops, assembly spaces, hotels, events, listed buildings and fire-hazardous businesses. Competency levels 1-3 refer to how complex the fire protection is during the inspection. You will of course be trained in both the fire inspection task and other prevention tasks. The training is combined with the mandatory Fire Technical training. You start with the simple inspections and can expect to handle the most complex inspections after some years of experience and education.
Your background and you as a person
We are looking for an engaged and collaborative colleague who thrives in a professional environment where we spar with each other. Your background could be from an operational position in the emergency services, preferably with a team leader or incident commander qualification. You may also have education as a disaster and risk manager, building designer or similar. We also imagine that you have experience with fire inspection from a municipal emergency service, building case processing, or as operations responsible for complex construction.
We expect that you
- Thrive and have experience with regulatory work, either as the enforcing authority or as a close partner
- Have a natural ability to build good relationships, both internally with colleagues and externally with operators responsible for fire inspections and other partners
- Express yourself clearly in writing and speech and can convey messages with natural authority
- Work curious, thorough and with high professionalism
- Want to work with the details in all tasks
We particularly value that you
- Have a relevant background/education within the emergency services field, either civil or operational
- Have completed firefighter training. The training must be maintained; otherwise a competence clarification test must be carried out immediately upon hiring.
- Have insight into the Emergency Services Act and the Building Regulations
- Take satisfaction in having control of the details
- Want to develop yourself and contribute to the development of our team
We will of course provide thorough training and introduction to the area and our organization.
We offer
You will become part of our fire inspection team in the Prevention and Advisory Department, which is based at Frederiksberg Fire Station near the metro.
Here you will have a meaningful role in a strong professional environment. You will also enjoy a flexible everyday life, where you yourself have a large responsibility for prioritising and handling tasks correctly.
We are a social workplace with a strong sense of community, where we work closely across the department. We are a department with high ambitions and a strong focus on development, so you will have good opportunities for professional development, sparring with skilled colleagues, and access to relevant courses and further education.
We are a family-friendly workplace with room to be yourself. It applies no matter where you are employed in the Capital's Emergency Service. We take care of each other because a good working environment helps ensure that we can solve our core task. Namely to take care of the capital region and our around 1 million citizens around the clock – year-round.
Salary and employment terms
You are employed as a prevention inspector with salary, pension, and other terms of employment according to the applicable collective agreement and the Ny Løn principles.
The position is full-time. Working hours will, to a limited extent, be outside normal office hours.
The Capital's Emergency Service is a workplace with multiple opportunities for internal development. As a natural part of employment there will be training in other prevention tasks, e.g. courses and exercise activities. For candidates with the right qualifications there may be an opportunity in the long term to apply for additional employment as incident commander or operations chief.
It is expected that you can obtain security clearance, and that this can be maintained throughout the employment period.
Application
If the position and the Capital's Emergency Service sound like a match for you, please send us a motivated application and CV along with evidence of relevant completed education and courses no later than 24 November 2026.
