About the job

Do you want to make a real difference for people with mental illness and concurrent substance use problems?

Are you motivated by working recovery-oriented, interdisciplinary and with the patient at the center? And do you want to become part of a highly specialized psychiatric ward where involvement and professional development are central values? Then this may be the position for you.

Who are we?

Section M21 is part of Department M, which specializes in treatment of patients with dual diagnosis, i.e. concurrent mental illness and substance dependence.

Patients are voluntarily admitted for inpatient treatment, typically over about three months. The treatment is based on a structured patient pathway description and a cognitive behavioral therapy program, where the patient’s own goals, wishes and motivation to change their use of substances guide the course. It also means that we view the bodily aspect as an essential part of the therapeutic work. The physiotherapy part of the treatment is described in the patient pathway description, with accompanying body-therapy group offerings.

The unit has 26 beds spread over two teams. You will primarily be affiliated with the East team and participate in an interdisciplinary collaboration with nurses, doctors, psychologists, social workers and other therapists.

We work with a targeted approach to cognitive behavioral therapy, motivation work and skill training, both individually and in groups. Coercive measures are rare, and we focus on creating safe and meaningful treatment pathways.

We offer

  • An independent position with great opportunity for professional influence
  • A strong multidisciplinary collaboration
  • A specialized target group with complex and exciting treatment courses
  • Thorough introduction to the unit, the target group and treatment methods
  • Training and teaching in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • An engaged and development-oriented colleague community
  • A workplace in scenic natural surroundings

About the position

As a physiotherapist you will be responsible for integrating the body's significance in the treatment and contribute to strengthening patients' physical, mental and social coping.

You will become an important part of the interdisciplinary team, where you contribute with your professional knowledge about the connection between body and mind. Together with the patient and the team you develop treatment plans that support the patient’s recovery process and increase the opportunities for an independent and meaningful life. In addition, you will have physiotherapist colleagues at our sister departments, whom you can consult professionally with and plan activities with in collaboration.

When patients are admitted to us, it is because they are motivated to make a positive change in their lives. We experience that patients are very interested in participating in the physiotherapeutic interventions and offerings, including walking group, running group, training, body group and BBAT. Over the summer, physiotherapists across departments ran a project together with a patient group to train to walk a longer distance of 15 km in the beautiful green landscape.

There is a strong desire from both patients and staff to develop and offer more activities during admission. Therefore there are good opportunities to put your own professional mark on the position through, among other things:

  • Tailored physical training and activity
  • Body awareness and relaxation programs
  • Mindfulness and stress-regulating activities
  • Individual physiotherapy treatment courses
  • Group-based activities and education

Your primary tasks

  • Analyze patients' functional abilities and resources
  • Plan and conduct physiotherapeutic treatment courses
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary treatment plans
  • Plan and facilitate individual and group activities
  • Provide and deliver psychoeducation

We are looking for someone who

  • Is a licensed physiotherapist
  • Preferably has experience with psychiatric patients, but this is not a requirement
  • Can work independently and take initiative
  • Can analyze patients’ needs and plan relevant physiotherapeutic interventions
  • Thrives at facilitating both individual paths and group activities
  • Sees the value in being a physiotherapeutic specialist in an interdisciplinary treatment team
  • Has good collaboration skills and contributes positively to the community

Salary and employment terms

The position is full-time with commencement on January 1, 2027 or by agreement.

You will be employed under the agreement for non-leading occupational therapists, physiotherapists and midwives, with pay grade as a physiotherapist.

The inpatient unit is staffed around the clock, and you will therefore be scheduled with mixed shifts in accordance with the rules of the current working time agreement/working time regulations in the collective agreement.

Vacation planning can be expected in weeks 29 and 30.

Want to join?

With us you have the opportunity to make a noticeable difference for people who are facing some of life's toughest situations. At the same time you will be part of a professionally strong environment where development, respect and collaboration go hand in hand.
