Make a difference with your pedagogical experience – one-to-one

Do you have experience with autism pedagogy, and can you create a safe afternoon with room for both breaks and joint activities? We are seeking a pedagogue or an untrained person with relevant experience for a position that may be temporary.

About the task

A game with squishies, a ride on a scooter or a quiet moment in the garden. You will become a regular presence in the afternoons with a sweet and caring 11-year-old boy who wants to spend time with others but needs help to make it manageable.

The boy has autism and ADHD and is currently extra sensitive and easily fatigued. You meet him when he comes home by taxi from school at 13:30. Here he often needs a break in his room with his iPad or game machine before he is ready for social time.

Your task is to create a clear framework for the afternoon with the family’s pictograms and daily schedule. You prepare him for the next step, help with transitions and continuously adapt the activities to his energy. Some days you can go to the nearby park or buy something he likes. Other days the time together takes place at home or in the garden, where the family’s rabbit can also be a shared reference point.

You help him find calm when emotions fill the space, and you are mindful of the need for breaks and fewer impressions. You also set out food from the family’s refrigerator and remind him to wash his hands. You are with him until his father comes home at 17:00.

About you

You are a pedagogue or unskilled with relevant experience. It is a requirement that you have experience with autism pedagogy and can work with structure, predictability, preparation and support for emotional regulation.

You can stay calm, give him time and communicate clearly in both words and body language. You notice small signs of fatigue and can adjust a plan to fit his capacity. At the same time you can take initiative for social time and offer a few concrete options without pressurising him.

Working hours

Working hours are Monday to Friday from 13:30–17:00.

There may be a temporary position, as the arrangement currently runs until November 16. There is potential for extension, and upon continuation the weekly hours may be reduced.

You will become part of a family-owned company with many engaged employees. You have a fixed adviser whom you can always get sparring from. Outside office hours there is always a staffed on-call phone, so you are never alone. Salary and pension in accordance with the National Agreement concluded between FOA and Dansk Erhverv. You are covered by DUOS’s liability and workers' compensation insurance and health insurance is part of your pension scheme.
