About the job

Would you like a versatile job with practical and administrative tasks - and would you like to help preserve our cemetery and develop it for the future?

Then you may be our new sexton. The position is 37 hours per week.

Who are we?

We are a small team of employees who place emphasis on a good community, even though we all have very different tasks in the church and at the cemetery. We also have a collaboration with Ringe Cemetery, where we borrow some of their employees and machines.

Your areas of responsibility are

  • The daily operation and maintenance of the cemetery, as well as the implementation of development plans for the cemetery
  • Church service during church ceremonies, including Sundays and holy days
  • Management responsibility for a sexton assistant
  • Guidance of grave plots and handling of urn interments
  • Maintenance of cemetery data in Brandsoft, including everything from invoicing to updating the cemetery map
  • Updating data in our automatic bell system
  • Supervision and daily maintenance of the church and cemetery buildings, including contact with external craftsmen
  • Servicing and guidance for the church's and cemetery's users and visitors
  • Procurement and preparation for our activities in the confirmation room and the church as well as various ad hoc tasks.

We imagine that you

  • Maybe you are a gardener - it is not a requirement.
  • That you are creative and have good ideas for how the church and cemetery can be decorated for the different holidays.
  • Have knowledge of the operation of a cemetery and preferably have the mandatory 5-week sexton training
  • Have strong IT skills
  • Have a focus on sustainable operation of the cemetery, biodiversity and an interest in developing the cemetery
  • Can work independently while being a good colleague
  • Have a good overview and are practically oriented
  • Have respect for the church's framework and the people we meet in both joy and sorrow
  • Have a good sense of humor, are helpful, flexible and eager to be part of our community

Working hours

The normal working hours are: Weekdays 7.00–15.00

There will also be weekend work in connection with church services. As a rule, every other weekend and holidays, with the possibility of compensatory time off thereafter.

You always have a fixed day off and a rotating day off by agreement with your colleague.
