About the job

Do you want to lead people, develop culture and set direction in Denmark's most specialized forensic-psychiatric department? We unfortunately did not find the right candidate in the first round – therefore the position is re-advertised.

Leadership in the Security Department is not just about operations.

It's about creating a working environment where employees thrive, develop and collaborate on one of the most complex tasks in Danish forensic psychiatry. It's about standing firm when it gets tough. About creating followership through clarity, trust and presence. And about developing a culture where professionalism, safety and responsibility go hand in hand.

Therefore we are seeking an experienced chief nurse who will help shape the future Security Department together with staff, colleagues and the rest of the management.

As chief nurse you will be part of the Department of Forensic Psychiatry, which handles some of the most complex treatment and rehabilitation tasks in Danish psychiatry. In the Security Department safety is a prerequisite – but relationships, treatment, professional development and strong leadership are what create a safe working environment and good patient care.

A leadership role with significance

Together with the chief medical officer and the department's other leaders you will have a central role in leading and developing the unit – both strategically, professionally and organizationally.

Your most important task will be to create frames in which employees experience a common direction, coherence and responsibility for the core task and where wellbeing, engagement and psychological safety are in focus.

Through clear personnel leadership your task is to

  • strengthen a professional working culture
  • promote a culture where learning, reflection and improvement work are a natural part of everyday life
  • promote collaboration across professional groups and departments
  • support high quality in care, treatment and patient safety
  • create a balance between operations, development and the working environment
  • support the continued development of the Security Department and the Department of Forensic Psychiatry

You must be visible in daily life and thrive being close to both staff and clinical practice. At the same time you must be able to handle complex issues, make difficult decisions and keep the course when the surroundings challenge it.

Who are you?

You are first and foremost an experienced leader.

You know that culture is not changed by plans alone, but through clear leadership, presence, consistency and strong relationships. You understand the importance of creating followership and can bring people together around common goals.

We imagine that you

  • are a trained nurse
  • have documented experience with personnel management
  • preferably have experience from psychiatry, forensic psychiatry or another complex clinical area
  • have a leadership qualification or the ambition to complete one
  • have experience with culture development, occupational health work or change management
  • build trust through propriety and integrity
  • manage to balance high expectations with respect for people

As a person you are robust, reflective and decisive. You listen and involve, but you are also not afraid to set direction and make decisions when the situation requires it.

Why choose us

We are not just offering a leadership position.

We offer the opportunity to make a significant mark on the development of a nationally highly specialized function with great importance for patients, staff and Danish forensic psychiatry.

You will get

  • a meaningful leadership position with great professional and organizational significance
  • a strong multidisciplinary environment with high ambitions
  • an engaged leadership community with close sparring and cooperation
  • a thorough introduction to both the leadership role and the Security Department's particular context
  • ongoing managerial follow-up and support
  • supervision and opportunity for continued leadership development
  • engaged staff with high professional pride
  • opportunity to influence culture, collaboration and the working environment in an organization that desires development

We believe that good and professional leadership makes a difference. Therefore we invest in our leaders and expect you to do the same.

About the Security Department

The Security Department is Denmark's only highly specialized national department for the most treatment- and care-demanding mentally ill patients. The department receives patients under civil or criminal measures and provides treatment within the framework of a high security level. The Security Department is organizationally part of the Department of Forensic Psychiatry in the Region of Zealand.

Safety is given high priority and is the foundation for the relationship-building that underpins treatment and rehabilitation. We work recovery-oriented and milieu-therapeutic with a focus on creating the best possible developmental opportunities for patients.

A special opportunity

You take over a ward with strong professional ambitions and a continued desire to develop culture, collaboration and the working environment. We are therefore seeking a leader who can unite people around a common direction, create followership and translate ambitions into concrete results.

If you are motivated to make a difference through leadership, and if you want to lead an important development in Danish forensic psychiatry, we would love to hear from you.
