About the job

Ambitious Head of Accounting ready for the next step as CFO - with a focus on project economics, contracts and profitability

Technicon A/S seeks a professionally strong and business-oriented head of accounting or financial manager who is ready for the next step as CFO. You will have overall responsibility for the company's financial governance and simultaneously be an active sparring partner for the management, project management and the organisation.

Here you have the opportunity to develop from a strong accounting and finance profile into a broad CFO role. You will strengthen financial transparency, optimize project economics and ensure that financial decisions are made on a solid and timely basis. The role combines strategic sparring with the management and operational work close to the projects, where value creation and risks arise.

The Role

As Head of Accounting you will be responsible for the finance function and for further developing the financial governance in the company. A key part of the task is to ensure that the management and project organisation have the necessary decision basis to efficiently manage contracts, projects, risks, liquidity and earnings.

You must be able to challenge, advise and support the organisation in optimising project economics - particularly with regard to contract understanding, risk management, budgeting, follow-up, change management and ongoing assessment of contribution margin and net profit impact.

In addition, you will play an important role in ensuring that the company’s system support matches the financial governance needs. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an advantage. The most important is that you have strong ERP competencies and a desire to develop the area.

You will become a visible and capable leader of the finance function. You should be able to create structure, ensure high professional quality and at the same time develop employees and collaboration interfaces, so that the finance function is experienced as a value-creating partner for the entire company. The role gives you the opportunity to expand your leadership experience and your strategic responsibility.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Overall responsibility for finance, accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and liquidity management.
  • Development and strengthening of the company’s financial reporting and management information.
  • Active sparring with management and project management on project economics, contract economics and profitability optimization.
  • Ensuring better financial management in projects, including budget follow-up, risk assessment, cash flow, changes, claims and margin development.
  • Contribute to sharper commercial decisions in connection with bids, contracts and project execution.
  • Management and development of the finance function with focus on professionalism, accountability and business understanding.
  • Ensure that the finance function supports the organisation with clear processes, timely reporting and usable analyses.
  • Work purposefully to create understanding in the organisation that all functions contribute to the company’s bottom line.
  • Contact with auditors, banks, authorities and other external partners.
  • Actively contribute to the company’s strategic development together with the management.

The Ideal Candidate

You currently work as, for example, Head of Accounting, Finance Manager, or another senior financial role and are ready to take on broader responsibility as CFO in due course. Experience from a project-oriented company is an advantage, just as experience from technical companies, contracting, industry, engineering, automation, installation, construction or other contract- and project-based business will be relevant.

You have a strong financial toolbox and understand - or have a clear desire to delve into - the connection between contracts, project execution, liquidity, risks and earnings. You can translate financial data into clear decision proposals and are ready to challenge the organisation constructively when project economics demands it.

As a person you are clear, professional and collaboration-oriented. You have professional assertiveness and the ambition to develop yourself as a leader and strategic sparring partner. You understand that the finance function should not only control but also actively contribute to better decisions and better results.

Professional Qualifications

  • Relevant financial education, for example MSc in Economics/Business (cand.merc.), HD-R, HD-F, CMA, cand.oecon. or an equivalent relevant background.
  • Documented experience with financial management; experience from a project- or contract-based company is a clear advantage.
  • Good understanding of project economics, contracts, risk management and margin optimization - or motivation to quickly build the necessary depth.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasts, reporting, cash flow and management information.
  • Solid accounting understanding and experience with year-end, auditing and controlling.
  • Experience with people management or clear leadership potential and desire to develop the finance function.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an advantage, but strong experience with other ERP systems can also be relevant.
  • Preferably experience with implementation, further development or optimization of Business Central or other ERP solutions, including processes, reporting, financial control and integration to other business systems.
  • Strong IT and ERP competencies and ability to optimise processes, data structures and reporting tools.

Personal Competences

  • Clear and credible with ambition to develop as a leader.
  • Commercially oriented and motivated to get closer to the business.
  • Analytically strong and structured.
  • Good at creating overview and prioritising.
  • Able to challenge constructively at all levels.
  • Strong communicator who can make finance understandable and relevant for the project organisation.
  • Proactive, curious and persistent.
  • Aspiring for both own, team and company success.

Success Criteria

You will succeed in the role when Technicon A/S has a finance function that not only delivers correct reporting, but actively contributes to better project management, stronger contract economics and improved profitability.

You have created greater financial transparency in the projects, strengthened collaboration between finance, management and the project organisation and left a clear professional mark on the company’s financial governance. At the same time you have developed into a broad and business-oriented CFO profile.

Technicon A/S offers

Technicon A/S offers a significant career step for an experienced head of accounting or finance manager who is eventually ready for CFO responsibility. You will have a real opportunity to influence both the financial direction, the professional standard and the commercial development. As part of the management, you will hold a key position in strengthening the company’s profitability, decision-making power and future development.
