About the job
Become part of a leadership community where you can make a real difference for children and young people. We are seeking a leader who is passionate about helping relaunch the special area and at the same time be part of building a leadership team that together will lift the important task.
As head of department at Sct. Jacobi School and Daycare, you will have the opportunity to put your mark on a developing special area and help create the best conditions for children and young people with special needs. You will be part of a leadership community characterized by trust, sparring and shared responsibility. We are now forming a new leadership team, which means you can help shape the development. Here leadership is something we succeed at together.
At Sct. Jacobi you enter an organization with high professionalism, committed staff and a well-established cross-professional collaboration, where different perspectives and competencies are seen as a strength.
Here you get the opportunity for both professional depth and personal development as a leader. You will work in an organization that is built on a systemic and resource-oriented approach, and where development, learning and strong relationships are the foundation of our work. If you are motivated to develop people, create strong professional communities and translate ambitions into meaningful practice, this could be your next leadership job.
Our view of children and pedagogical foundation
Sct. Jacobi School and Daycare houses about 280 pupils from 0-10th grade and around 140 engaged staff. The school is spread across three sites: Pramstedvej and Laboratorievej in Varde as well as a department in Tistrup. The Special Kindergarten Solsikken is also part of the organization, which covers the entire special area in the Municipality of Varde.
In collaboration with parents and other partners, we work to create the framework for a good life for children and young people, where children and young people with general and specific learning difficulties develop life strategies aimed at inclusion in the ordinary community. In other words, we create the future adults together.
We take as a starting point a shared pedagogical foundation, where we believe that all children have superpowers. We do not see the child as its diagnosis, but as a person with abilities, resources and possibilities that can unfold and develop.
Leadership team at Sct. Jacobi School and Daycare
As head of department you become part of the school's leadership team, which consists of four department heads, a deputy principal and a principal. We work from the principle of shared leadership and shared responsibility. Therefore we expect you to actively contribute to the development of the whole organization, while taking responsibility for your own leadership areas.
Our leadership is based on trust, courage, curiosity, integrity and strong relationships. We support and challenge each other, and we believe that the best solutions arise in close collaboration between leaders, staff and partners.
How your leadership can make a difference
As head of department with us you get the opportunity to make a concrete difference in daily life – for children and young people with special needs, for their families and for the staff who every day translate professionalism into safe and developing communities. Your leadership should help create direction, coherence and followership, so we can together further develop a strong special area with high ambitions and attention to each child's possibilities.
You fit perfectly as a leader with us if you have a relevant educational background and several years of leadership experience. In addition, we hope that you:
- Are motivated by personnel leadership and to create ownership through involvement and naturally involve the staff's professional judgment
- Have an appreciative, resource-oriented and development-oriented view of people
- Can build strong relationships and networks to benefit children, families and partners
- Show courage, integrity and decisiveness in decisions and leadership tasks
