About the job
At Horsens Byskole we are looking for a department head who is passionate about young people, strong communities and the development of the primary school. We are looking for a department head who will help shape an attractive and well-profiled department for the students in grades 5–9, and at the same time be a visible and approachable staff leader for the employees.
You will take a central role in the development of Phase 2 at the Fussingsvej department, where the ambitions are high, the collaboration is strong, and where we work every day to create the best opportunities for our students.
You will be part of a strong, well-functioning and professional management team with a good leadership community, where sparring, trust and shared responsibility go hand in hand. We believe that good leadership is not an individual discipline, but something we succeed at together. This means, among other things, that we spar with each other, share responsibilities and challenges and together find solutions when the task calls for it.
A special opportunity to set the direction
As department head you will be responsible for grades 5–9, and you will become an important driving force in the work of developing the profiles and learning environments of the upper school.
We want to strengthen the students’ academic excellence, motivation, formation and learning, so that we together create meaning, direction and attractive options for the students. At the same time you will help continue our work with sustainable welfare, where quality, community and action-oriented solutions go hand in hand.
Your main tasks
You will work in the cross-section between personnel management, student matters, administrative leadership and school development.
Among your tasks are
- Personnel management and staff development in Phase 2
- Continue the development of a strong and attractive upper-secondary profile for the school's students
- Leadership of learning and development processes based on data and research
- Work with sustainable solutions and task-oriented use of resources
- Administrative tasks related to the department, including final exams, planning and coordination in close collaboration with the school's administrative staff
- Collaboration with staff, students and parents through inclusive and transparent processes
- Coordination of the transition from the Kildegade department to Fussingsvej, so students experience a safe and coherent transition
- Active participation in cross-school collaboration forums and networks, where particularly collaboration with external partners is an important part
About you
We are looking for a leader who is passionate about the students and making a difference. You are teacher trained, and have either leadership experience or a strong desire to develop yourself as a leader.
You have insight into the special tasks and challenges associated with grades 5–9, and you can create clear direction and followership around the school's goals. As a person you are present, relational and clear, and you thrive on creating frames where others can succeed and develop.
You work systematically, keep an overview in a daily life with many stakeholders, and you can translate ambitions into action in a variable daily life. At the same time you are a strong collaborative partner who builds trustful relationships and sees the value in achieving results together with others. You are motivated by development, have a solution-oriented view of challenges and want to help shape the future of the public school through strong professional communities and sustainable solutions.
Why you should choose Horsens Byskole
At Horsens Byskole you will become part of a large and ambitious school with around 850 students and 150 staff distributed across two departments. We are an organization where community, development and collaboration are core values. Here we help each other, share knowledge and take on tasks together, because we believe that the best results are created together.
We actively work to develop our practice through professional learning communities, language-based teaching, homogeneous class formation and strong student communities. At the same time we have high ambitions on behalf of the students and a continued focus on creating the best opportunities for learning, well-being and formation. Our mission is simple: It’s about the children.
Are you a person with the courage to set a direction, a desire to develop others and ambitions on behalf of Horsens Byskole? If you can see yourself leading the development of Phase 2, we look forward to meeting you at an open house.
