About the job
Our vision stems from a dream of creating the best holistic home for children and young people.
At Hjortholm we create safe, development-oriented environments for placed children and young people with psychosocial difficulties. In the Søskendehuse (Siblings Houses) siblings have the opportunity to live together, strengthen and develop their relationships – while we across school, living groups and Søskendehuse work together to create the best possibilities for well-being, development and potential in collaboration with the children's families.
Would you like to help translate the vision into practice – and with momentum strengthen the pedagogical work around placed siblings? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for?
The Organization
Hjortholm is a 24-hour institution for placed children and young people aged 1-17 years. Since 1833 we have been located in Fuglebjerg, in scenic surroundings, on the main road between Slagelse and Næstved.
The environment is informal with high ceilings, and where only imagination sets the limits for the pedagogical and educational effort. We currently have 40 children and young people who are challenging, challenged and most of all wonderful, distributed in Søskendehuse, bogrupper and school.
Leadership Profile
You are educated as a pedagogue, teacher, social worker, family therapist or psychologist and have leadership experience as well as knowledge of the target group. You are able to lead through others, and you want to motivate and develop staff. You are comfortable with yourself. You can read a room and have a high degree of self-reflection both professionally and personally.
We base ourselves on the children’s and families’ potential with the attitude that everyone does their best, and that everyone can learn. We know that learning happens in relation to others, and therefore we seek a leader who shares the same basic view. Children and young people are not the problem; they show the problem.
Task
As the leader for three of Hjortholm’s sibling houses, you will be responsible for three dedicated pedagogical teams, each with its own team coordinator. All are passionate about creating a safe and family-like everyday life for sibling groups who are placed together.
In addition to the administrative and financial overview, you will handle personnel management and set the direction for the pedagogical direction in collaboration with the team coordinator in each house.
You will become a central actor in translating Hjortholm’s cornerstones, professional values, policies and guidelines into practice and you must be able to actively see yourself as part of the organization’s vision and ongoing development.
You are adaptable, curious and motivated by creating development – for both staff, the children and Hjortholm as an organization.
It is expected that you
- Be proactive and work development-oriented and trust-based.
- Naturally engage in cooperation with internal social workers, administration, management and staff
- Naturally represent Hjortholm and our cornerstones at interfaces with external partners, authorities and parents/families of children and young people.
- Be keen to develop yourself together with the management group and positively influence others’ development
- Can execute and implement concrete pedagogical tasks, e.g. documentation, mindset, competence development, etc.
- Have an eye for follow-up and quality assurance
- Involve and consult with others on areas of development
The Community
You will join the leadership team, who together develop the organization strategically, pedagogically and didactically.
We work with room for possibilities, solution focus, LØFT (a Danish method) and continuous translation work to ensure operation while developing the organization. It is expected that you apply your knowledge across disciplines both in management and together with all Hjortholm staff.
At Hjortholm we share a systemic way of thinking and view children and young people’s behavior as communication. Our new leader must be able to engage and act from that standpoint.
We offer
- A dedicated and diverse staff group with a focus on professionalism.
- Great influence and high ceilings.
- Fantastic physical surroundings, a good place to be, a good place to learn.
- A number of fixed traditions, such as ski trips, summer camps, as well as various sports events and good parties.
- Good opportunities for training
