About the job

IT Manager, People and Delivery

IT Manager, People & Delivery – Become the CTO's Right Hand in a Growing IT/R&D Department

Are you the kind of leader who makes a whole team run better? At Proshop, our IT/R&D department is 19 people strong and still growing — and today our CTO carries people management, delivery process, architecture and product ownership in a single pair of hands. That is one pair too few. We are looking for an IT Manager to take full ownership of the people and the process, so our colleagues get the leadership attention they deserve and our technical direction gets the focus it needs.

Your Role as the CTO's Right Hand

Core Responsibilities

  • People Leadership: Take day-to-day responsibility for our developers and IT specialists — development and performance conversations, onboarding, and the one-to-one talks that matter when a colleague needs one, rather than on a fixed schedule.
  • Employment & Compensation: Own salary reviews, appraisal cycles, contracts and employment matters for the department together with our CTO. We have no HR department, so this is genuinely yours to run — not a process someone else administers for you.
  • Planning & Progress: Help our people and teams plan their work and keep track of how it is going. We do not run textbook Scrum with full boards and ceremonies — what we need is someone who helps colleagues break work down, see honestly where it stands, remove what is blocking them, and raise a slipping commitment early rather than late.
  • Overview Across Teams: Keep the overview of what everyone is working on, where dependencies collide, and what the rest of the business needs to know before it becomes a problem.
  • Recruitment: Help us find, interview and land our next colleagues as the department continues to grow.
  • Continuous Improvement: Shape how we work — ways of working, tooling and team structure — and lift the department's planning and delivery maturity a level, at a pace the teams can actually absorb.

Growing into Full Responsibility

  • A Structured Handover: You will start with a defined part of the department and work side by side with our CTO, taking on full people responsibility for all of IT/R&D across your first 6–12 months as you build relationships and context.
  • A Genuine Partnership: This is a right-hand role, not an administrative one. You will be in the room for department strategy, priorities and organisational decisions — and you are expected to speak up when you see it differently.

What We're Looking For

Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading people in an IT organisation — as a people lead, team lead, engineering manager, development manager or similar — including the harder conversations, not only the pleasant ones.
  • Genuine interest in people and real empathy: you notice when a colleague is struggling before they say so, and you would rather grow someone than replace them.
  • Natural authority. You can hold a decision, deliver an unwelcome “no”, and have it respected — not because of your title, but because people trust the way you reach your conclusions.
  • Enough technical credibility to be taken seriously by experienced developers. You do not need years of coding behind you — but you must be able to follow a technical explanation, ask the question that exposes the real risk, and hold your own in an architecture discussion without pretending to be the architect.
  • Practical experience helping teams plan and track their work. You know agile methods well enough to borrow what works from them, and you are comfortable in an organisation that deliberately runs light on process — your job is to help people get better at planning, not to install a framework.
  • A structured and proactive approach, and the ability to hold an overview across several teams at once.
  • Experience working closely with a CTO, CIO or similar — or a clear ambition to grow into that kind of partnership.

The Right Attitude: At Proshop, we value initiative, curiosity and teamwork. You will thrive here if you genuinely enjoy seeing other people grow, if you would rather solve a problem than document it, and if you find real satisfaction in a team that delivers calmly and predictably. Whether you came to leadership from a developer chair or from leading people elsewhere in IT matters far less to us than how you carry the room once you are in it.

Communication

  • Fluency in English is essential for effective collaboration within our international teams.
  • Danish is strongly regarded for this role, as much of the people-facing work — appraisals, salary conversations and everyday dialogue — takes place in Danish.
