About the job

Do you ensure stable, secure and automated operation of the platforms that support the Ministry of Education's IT solutions? Do you thrive at the intersection of development and operations and are you motivated by automation, modern operations platforms and cross-disciplinary collaboration?

Then you could be the new colleague we are looking for to the platform team in the Agency for IT and Learning.

About the role

As an IT technician in the platform team in the Center for Operation, Infrastructure and Operational Security (DOS), you will be part of a technically strong team that is responsible for the agency's common operations and development platforms.

The team focuses on delivering modern, stable and secure platforms that, through automation and clear processes, support both software development and the daily application operations. We continue to develop the platforms in line with the organization’s needs and at the same time focus on maintenance, monitoring and handling of operations and security incidents.

Your main tasks

  • Operate, maintain and further develop common operations and development platforms
  • Handle upgrades, patch management and vulnerabilities
  • Troubleshoot and optimize across platforms, infrastructure and applications
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code
  • Automate deployment, release and operations tasks
  • Support development teams with standardized and automated solutions
  • Work with monitoring, telemetry and log analysis
  • Ensure documentation and compliance with requirements

We work from DevOps principles with a focus on standardized, replaceable environments rather than bespoke solutions. Infrastructure as Code is a core principle – the desired state for systems is defined and versioned as code.

About you

Your educational and experience background can be diverse. You could be an IT technician, system administrator, data scientist, data analyst, IT technician or engineer.

The most important thing is that you are engaged, technically sound and enjoy operations and maintenance. You are curious about automation and modern operating methods and are motivated by translating concrete needs and challenges into stable and efficient solutions.

You can analyze and solve technical problems across technologies and you thrive with operations tasks and further development going hand in hand. You work in a structured and methodical way and collaborate well across different professional groups.

You do not need to be able to do it all from the start. We are looking for both experienced profiles and candidates with less experience who have the right technical foundation and a desire to build on their competencies and develop in the role.

It is an advantage if you have experience with

  • Open Source technologies such as Linux and PostgreSQL
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Ansible/AWX and Git
  • OpenStack or other cloud/virtualization platforms
  • CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and TeamCity
  • Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry or similar tools for monitoring and observability

We offer

  • A central role in the operation and further development of the agency's shared and critical platforms
  • A professionally strong environment with modern technologies and a high degree of open source
  • An on-premise cloud infrastructure
  • A high degree of influence on technical solutions and architecture
  • A good collegial community with a focus on collaboration
  • Good opportunities for professional and personal development

In STIL we are about 30 agile teams working with development, maintenance, application operations and infrastructure operations of UVM’s IT solutions.
