A truly unique job opportunity as kitchen – house assistant at the Children and Youth Home Åhuset.

We are seeking a kitchen – and house assistant for the Children and Youth Home Åhuset in Hadsten.

There is a position starting 1 March 2027 at 30 hours per week.

It is not a requirement that you have a kitchen-related education. For example, you may have a social-pedagogical education, be a nutrition assistant, or have other relevant experience.

The most important is that you have knowledge of cooking, are creative in a kitchen, enjoy making healthy and inviting food, and that you are eager and interested in involving the children and the young people, as we see the kitchen as an important part of our pedagogical work and as a place where children and young people can learn through participation, curiosity and community.

Åhuset is a home for 10 placed children and young people. Åhuset is approved for children and young people from 0 – 17 years old (the children/young people will typically be aged from 7-18 years, currently they are 13 – 18 years), who have social, emotional and cognitive challenges. The offering also targets siblings, so there is a contribution to a unified upbringings environment.

The Children – and Youth Home Åhuset is part of the Implementation Area in Children and Family in Favrskov Municipality together with Foster Care, Family Team and the Youth Team

Åhuset has existed since 2003 and is located in scenic surroundings in Hadsten in a two-story house on a large natural plot, which includes, among other things, a large bonfire hut.

Åhuset is close to the town center and public transport.

At Åhuset eight social workers, a network worker, a pedagogue student, an administrative employee and a technical service employee work. In addition there is a psychologist and an on-call substitute team linked to it.

You will report to Åhuset's team leader who is also the team leader for Foster Care.

We are looking for a kitchen assistant who

• can prepare healthy, varied and nutritionally correct food, according to current guidelines – and plate the food in an inviting way.
• prepares breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner.
• prepares food for special events, birthdays, summer party, Christmas Eve
• prepares/cooks food before their own holiday.
• develops meal plans that cover the needs of the children and young people while also inspiring and whetting the appetite.
• has an overview of stock and a sense of structure.
• can take responsibility for the kitchen budget, including purchasing via the municipality's purchasing system and agreements
• can perform self-checks and take responsibility for good hygiene and cleaning, in accordance with the guidelines of the Danish Food Authority.
• can consult with the pedagogical staff if special dietary considerations are needed
• is passionate about becoming part of the daily lives of the children and the young, and support the pedagogical colleagues in their work with the children and the young, e.g., by waking them, by driving them to school and to the doctor and helping and being available for the children and the young when your colleagues are occupied with other matters in or outside Åhuset.

Other tasks

• In collaboration with your pedagogical colleagues responsible for the department to ensure the area appears clean, tidy and cozy so that the physical framework supports a home-like atmosphere.
• Cleaning tasks.

Further information

There is a position starting 1 March 2027 and 30 hours per week.

There is primarily day work but evening work occurs for the approximately three annual events for the children and the young people's families.

Hiring process

We will hold interviews on Wednesday 11 November 2026 and Thursday 12 November 2026, if a second round is needed.

Salary and terms of employment in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

A driving license is a prerequisite to be able to perform the job. The driving is mainly in Åhuset's minibuses. A reimbursement for using a private car is provided according to applicable rules.
