About the job

Do you have a solid pedagogical-didactic foundation, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to express yourself clearly? Would you like to use your skills to ensure qualified decisions for children and young people with special needs?

Gentofte Municipality is looking for a structured and professionally strong consultant for the Special Pedagogical Development Team. Your main task will be to ensure quality in case processing, decisions, and follow-up in the field of special education.

We are looking for someone who can connect pedagogical and didactic knowledge with thorough case processing. You may be experienced or relatively newly qualified with a solid professional foundation and a desire to develop your competencies in authority work.

The position is limited to one year with the possibility of extension.

About the job

You will play an important role in the work behind the municipality's school visitation. You will help review and assess recommendations, ensure a sufficiently informed decision basis, and prepare clear and well-founded decisions within applicable law.

It requires more than administrative overview. You must be able to understand and evaluate descriptions of students' needs, schools' interventions, and the pedagogical-didactic considerations underlying a recommendation.

You will also have a central task in following up on students in special education programs outside Gentofte Municipality. At the same time, you will contribute to developing workflows and creating knowledge across cases – for example through qualitative analyses of the recommendations we receive.

The emphasis of the role lies in depth, writing, and systematic work. You will also have ongoing dialogue with schools, PPR, parents, external providers, and colleagues in the administration.

Your tasks

Professional assessment and case handling

  • Review and qualify visitation recommendations with a focus on students' needs, described interventions, and case documentation.
  • Ensure that cases are adequately informed, and obtain supplementary information when necessary.
  • Prepare and present cases for the central school visitation committee.
  • Draft and quality-assure clear, professionally and legally well-founded decisions.
  • Contribute to handling complaints and re-evaluation of decisions.
  • Respond to inquiries from citizens and partners.

Follow-up and quality development

  • Systematically follow up on students in special education programs outside the municipality, including their well-being, learning, and development in collaboration with relevant parties.
  • Contribute to qualitative analyses of visitation recommendations and identify patterns, documentation needs, and development opportunities.
  • Develop workflows, templates, and guidelines that support consistent and thorough case processing.
  • Contribute to better use of data and digital solutions.
  • Maintain information about the municipality's special offers on the website.

About you

You have a relevant higher education, such as cand.pæd., a teacher education with a relevant qualification, or similar. You have knowledge of special education, teaching, and didactics, and can use it to analyze and assess concrete cases.

We especially emphasize that you

  • Work thoroughly and structurally and can maintain an overview of cases, deadlines, and follow-up.
  • Can read complex material, distinguish between information and judgments, and identify what is missing in a case.
  • Write clearly and concisely and can communicate complex professional matters in understandable language.
  • Have knowledge of administrative law and authority work or a good foundation to quickly acquire it.
  • Have analytical sense and can work systematically with both qualitative information and data.
  • Thrive with ongoing case processing while also having a view to improving workflows.
  • Can handle different considerations and perspectives with professionalism and respect.
  • Collaborate well and meet citizens and partners in a professional and accommodating manner.

If you are relatively newly qualified, it is important that you can demonstrate professional depth, strong analytical and writing skills, as well as relevant insight from, for example, education, internships, or work. If you already have experience with visitation and authority work, it will be valuable to the team.

We offer

  • A meaningful job where your thoroughness and professionalism make a difference for children and youths' school lives.
  • Opportunity to work in depth with special pedagogical assessments, authority work, and quality in case handling.
  • A strong collegial community where we help each other and share knowledge.
  • Responsibility and the opportunity to influence workflows, systematic work and the decision basis.

Professional development in a school system with high ambitions and a focus on further developing the special education area.
