Consultant for the Education Secretariat (maternity leave cover)

Start 1 December or by agreement.

Education and opportunities for continuing education are important for our members in Dansk Metal, but it is also one of the most current topics in Danish politics. For how will we achieve the green transition and defense investments if there are no skilled tradespeople to build and install wind turbines or produce heat pumps and defense matériel?

We are looking for an education consultant to help work on these questions. So if you have an interest in educational policy and development tasks in an exciting organization, you now have the opportunity to become part of Dansk Metal's Education Secretariat. Both recent graduates and candidates with experience are encouraged to apply.

We are seeking a maternity cover for a period of 9 months with possibility of extension.

About the position

The Education Secretariat is responsible for Dansk Metal's educational policy advocacy and for the development of education in the vocational education and adult education and continuing education sector. We also advise members on their education opportunities.

You will be part of a small secretariat with high professional standards and close collaboration with the politically elected union secretary and the other staff. In addition, you will collaborate with colleagues in the union house, local Metal branches, educational institutions and a number of external partners.

Your tasks

Your responsibilities may include

• Project management on smaller projects within the organization, including a project where retired Metal members mentor young people who are at risk of dropping out of their vocational education.
• Advise management, Metals local branches and other secretariats in the Union House on education issues.
• Represent Dansk Metal in professional committees, working groups and relevant collaboration forums.
• Write notes, policy papers and opinion pieces.
• Member-focused communication about education for the website and newsletters.
• Cooperation with vocational schools, organizations and other actors in the education field.

About you

You can be a recent graduate or have a few years of experience. The most important is that you have an interest in the education sector, a desire to learn and a willingness to take responsibility.

We expect that you

• Have an interest in the education system and preferably knowledge of vocational education.
• Wish to work with development of education and education policy issues.
• Have experience with project management and leadership.
• Are strong in both oral and written communication.
• Know what Dansk Metal stands for and share our values.

It is an advantage if you have knowledge of the education sector, the labor market or the trade union world, but it is not a requirement.
