About the job

Do you want to support children and young people with special abilities to move more than anyone thought possible? Are you motivated by creating development together with employees and management and do you love making schedules? Then we need you!

Basen is seeking an engaged coordinating leader for our department at Carl Nielsens Allé, where we have sheltered placements and 1:1 support. We are looking for a colleague who is passionate about working in our close and caring environment, where treatment and education merge in everyday life. We are especially looking for you who have the courage and desire to both teach and plan the department's instructional and treatment efforts.

"The great thing about being a coordinating leader at Basen is that you get to be a bit of everything: you get to support students in the role of primary therapist/teacher, you experience the joy of planning and implementing meaningful teaching, and you are also involved in organizing practice in everyday life in a way that gives the staff the best possible opportunities to provide good treatment with and teaching for the students", says coordinating leader Frederik Dalsgaard Larsen.

Basen – we are the foundation for children who have it tough

Basen is a treatment and special education provision with 7 departments distributed in Copenhagen, Birkerød, Odense and Taastrup. Most of our students have a diagnosis within the ADHD or autism spectrum, but we also have students who have e.g. anxiety, depression, OCD, eating disorders and school refusal.

Common to the students is that they need stable relationships with adults who understand them and can set frameworks tailored to their needs. The vast majority graduate with a fine 9th or 10th grade exam with us – and they need your help to get there.

You are both leader and teacher

You will work in the department KBH3. We have students from 0th to 10th grade and here we offer every student their own room, where the student can be with a fixed adult and receive instruction/treatment planned according to their individual needs.

Your tasks are divided 50/50 between managerial tasks and teaching tasks. You will thus be part of a management team together with the department head and the psychologist, while also participating on equal terms with Basen's other staff in solving daily tasks including treatment and teaching. In your managerial role you will undertake the following tasks:

  • Be primarily responsible for timetabling and the daily coordinator, ensuring correct staffing and distribution of tasks.
  • Be exam responsible as well as taking responsibility for term tests and annual plans, in collaboration with the department head.
  • Quality assure the teaching and treatment by supporting the daily structure.
  • Contribute to ensuring a high professional and treatment level.
  • Collaborate with staff on the core task and have in-depth knowledge of the quality of it.
  • Guidance and training of new staff.

Fill more into the toolbox during work time

Our goal is not only to be a safe base for the children - we want to give our colleagues the professional base that enables them to support the students in the best possible way.

Therefore we have our own knowledge centre, where you can become better equipped to handle everything from specific diagnoses, the parent collaboration and documentation to the school-related content of your work. And we have an annual conference as well as a residential with a program that is both professional and social.

We are there for each other and remember to feel good

We are structured in such a way that the path to leadership is short, and in general we place a great emphasis on everyday life at Basen being a joint task. You can hear your colleagues tell more about it in the video here.

"Here there is room to be the person you are, and not just your profession. And that is also what the students need. For they are as diverse as we are, and need to be able to sense us as people," says Cecilie Toft Michelsen, HR responsible.

Coordinating leader with strong teaching competencies

It is a plus if you have knowledge and preferably experience with the school sector and that you are ready to familiarize yourself with regulations, trial guidelines, etc.

You do not need to have experience with our target group, as long as you are willing to work within the specialist area. Then we will equip you with our knowledge. In return we imagine that you:

  • have relevant education and can teach ordinarily gifted children.
  • would like to be primary for 1-2 students and responsible for 5-10 lessons of teaching per week, where annual plans, weekly plans etc. also need to be made.
  • are good at navigating in a low arousal environment, where we emphasize being lenient, calm and conflict-reducing.
  • want to teach 1:1 and are keen on close parental collaboration.
  • are patient and can see things in the big perspective, when everyday changes may seem micro.
  • administratively strong and moves effortlessly around on various IT platforms
  • experience with timetabling and coordination is an advantage
