Creative and professionally strong canteen assistant in the role of deputy

We are looking for a canteen assistant for the canteen at Campus Holbæk who is passionate about working in a canteen. We are looking for you who want to be part of an evolving, solidarity-based and caring work environment, where the staff group places emphasis on well-being and belonging.

At the Professionshøjskolen Absalon we have a desire to have lively campus environments and to put our students at the center. This is especially expressed in our canteens, where our students every day have the opportunity to buy a healthy and tasty meal. We are continuously in dialogue with the students around the buffet in the canteen. We do this to ensure that the meals we serve to the students appeal to them and give them the desire to gather in our canteen environments.

Your profile

As a deputy in the canteen, you must be professionally strong and contribute with new inspiration in a busy daily life, among other things in relation to product development, taste and senses. In addition, you must want to be in an environment with many students, and you must be able to step in and function in a coordinating role when the canteen manager is not present. It is therefore important that you can recognize yourself in the following profile:

Sustainable focus.

You have experience of working in a canteen where there is a focus on ecology, sustainability and reducing food waste. Your commitment to sustainability in the kitchen is reflected, among other things, by your willingness and ability to share your good ideas and at the same time soak up new knowledge when you have the opportunity to acquire new knowledge.

Overview and adaptability.

In a daily life with many tasks to plan and follow up on, you can make qualified decisions, translate them into action and at the same time maintain an overview. You approach your tasks in a structured way and solve them with precision and meticulousness. You are responsible, service-minded and engaged, both with regard to tasks and collaboration. If you welcome changes, you go at the front with a positive attitude.

Good collaboration skills.

You are able to work with many different people across professional groups. You also have the ability and willingness to work in a daily life that includes the broad labor market, which for example includes colleagues who are employed in company internships.

Experience with LEAN.

You have experience with LEAN as a working tool, and you have seen with your own eyes examples of how LEAN can free up time and resources for other important tasks in a busy daily life.

In addition, we expect that you

• speak and write Danish and English
• have basic knowledge of the Office package
• have experience from similar positions in a canteen or kitchen.

Your tasks

As a canteen employee you will work with the following tasks

Development in daily life.

In a busy daily life you will play an important role when we need to develop workflows or come up with new exciting ways to use orange peels or broccoli stalks in our quest to achieve an even more sustainable focus.

Participate in the canteen’s operations.

You will help produce cold and hot dishes as well as bread, pastries and much more that we sell in the canteen. You will also help plan the menu and order goods, and assist with receiving goods when they are delivered. In addition, you will need to serve in the canteen’s sales area and perform own checks during the day.

Care for course participants and guests.

At our campus we host many courses and conferences for internal as well as external companies and organizations. In connection with courses and conferences you have an important role in ensuring that course participants and guests receive the right catering at the right time, so they feel that the service is top-notch.

Deputy for the manager.

You must run the kitchen in collaboration with your colleagues and maintain an overview when there are many balls in the air. As deputy, you are expected to be able to order goods, ensure smooth canteen operations and make decisions on behalf of the manager when necessary.

The canteen at Campus Holbæk is a team consisting of a head cook/canteen assistant and a canteen assistant. You report to our canteen manager at Campus Kalundborg, where shifts may also occur. With us we value quality, an informal tone, and that it should be fun to go to work.

All campuses at Absalon have one or more canteens attached, where students and staff daily have the opportunity to buy a healthy and tasty meal. Your colleagues have a strong focus on their work not only being food production and sales - the canteen is the informal gathering point on campus and always a nice place to be. We work in teams, and even though we are dispersed across different campuses, we collaborate across and strive to create team spirit and a sense of community, whether you work in Holbæk, Slagelse, Vordingborg or at one of the other campuses.

How to apply

• Employment is based on the applicable agreement in the state sector.
• Depending on your educational background and seniority, expected salary will be between DKK 29,000 and DKK 32,000 per month excluding pension. In addition, there is a pension contribution of 15%, 16% or 18.4% depending on your educational background. Your salary will consist of base pay, position allowances and any qualification allowances.
• The position is full-time, and we would like you to start on December 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
