About the job

The position is an education/internship position with 37 hours per week and runs until 31 December 2027.

The Section for Ingredient- and Dairy Technology (IDT) seeks 2 laboratory technician interns for an international research and education environment. IDT is a large section with 60 staff, five research groups and an across-section Laboratory Group, which consists of 4 laboratory technicians and 2 laboratory technician interns.

The section has spectrophotometric and chromatographic equipment such as UV/VIS, Fluorescence, HPLC, UHPLC and GC, as well as equipment for protein determination, such as SDS-PAGE and Western-Blot. In addition, the section has advanced analytical equipment for characterising physical quality and functionality of e.g. dairy products, beer and plant material. This may include measurements of particle size distribution, rheological properties and microscopy.

As an intern you will typically work on 2-3 tasks at a time and in periods of 4-8 weeks; you will work with researchers on their tasks or you will solve tasks in the laboratory technicians group with optimisation or validation of analytical methods, troubleshooting and equipment checks. You will also assist in laboratory teaching with preparation of exercises, setup of equipment, preparation of solutions and practical guidance to students in the laboratory.

Intern profile

  • You have passed the theoretical part of the laboratory technician education before the start of the internship.
  • You are curious about your tasks and wonder if your results are not as expected.
  • You are happy to contribute to general laboratory work such as preparation of reagents, washing up and waste disposal, as well as introduction of methods and equipment to our students.
  • You have good physical fitness to move and lift, as we are a dynamic lab that is constantly changing and any work in a Pilot Plant may require good physical condition.
  • You can express yourself orally and in writing in Danish and English, as there are many international researchers in the section.
  • You have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word and Excel.
