About Hårup School

Hårup School is a well-functioning rural school in the northern part of Aarhus Municipality. Hårup School has about 250 students distributed across the 0th-9th grade. The school is scenically located on the outskirts of Aarhus in calm and pleasant surroundings. With nature right outside the windows, we have good opportunities to use the local environment in teaching.

The school has for many years had joint leadership and joint upper grades with Elev School. This arrangement ended with the end of the last school year, as the two schools had grown too large to continue operating together. As a consequence of the termination, Hårup School has naturally given rise to both students, staff and leadership to the other school district. The school will therefore in the coming years have a smaller upper level. The local area is growing, and the school is growing from the bottom up, so within a few years it is expected to be two-tracked at all grade levels again.

Hårup School builds on the school's strong foundation and wonderful traditions, while at the same time reformulating the foundation as an independent school and creating new visions and values for the future.

Hårup School is characterized by a strong sense of community across the school – both among parents, staff and leadership. There is freedom with responsibility, and the responsibility for the school, tasks and each other is taken seriously with the premise that students' learning and well-being are a shared responsibility. People help each other across and meet each other with recognition and respect.

The school focuses on communities and an investigative approach. The school has a number of fixed, annual traditions and activities. The school has good physical facilities, including well-equipped subject rooms, a large sports field and a sports hall.

We have a strong focus on solving our core task from a systemic and appreciative approach, and in a good cross-disciplinary collaboration. As a teacher at Hårup School you will become part of a collegial group of about 30 teachers/pedagogues. We teach close to everyday life.

The school is very much the local community's school. Most children in the area attend the school, and there is a trusting cooperation with the parents – both in the classrooms and in the school board.
