Lecturer in Clinical Nursing

At the Faculty of Health Sciences, Clinical Institute, Aalborg University, there is a position as Associate Professor in Clinical Nursing available for appointment on 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is permanent and at 7.4 hours/week (20%).

Your tasks

As an Associate Professor in Clinical Nursing at the Clinical Institute, you will be connected to the Research Unit for Clinical Nursing at Aalborg University Hospital as an important link in strengthening and ensuring the development of research competencies in clinical nursing. You will therefore also be a key driver in securing the next generation of PhD-qualified nurses and other health professionals.

The professorship aims to develop the research group for Clinical Nursing with a strengthened focus on quantitative competencies. We are seeking a person who has experience with the use of questionnaires, PRO and epidemiological methods, including validation, testing, prediction, etc. You are expected to contribute to addressing central issues in clinical practice with particular focus on research in the close health service and the technological solutions that will support the health professional efforts of the future.

Your competences

With the aim of developing the capacity of the Research Group for Clinical Nursing, we are seeking a candidate who has competencies within artificial intelligence (AI), nursing and health technology and the intersection between these areas. It is essential that you can see yourself in a role where you contribute to developing cross-sector collaboration across the health system.

Therefore, the ideal candidate has extensive insight and interest in a changing health service, where technological solutions contribute to increased coherence and a more individually tailored patient pathways in line with the Health Mission's ambitions.

Additionally, the position includes

• Independent and collaborative research in clinical nursing
• Professional leadership of research projects and research groups
• Planning and management of research projects in accordance with Aalborg University Hospital, the Clinical Institute and the Research Unit's strategies
• Implementation of research-based knowledge in clinical practice
• Dissemination of research results in national and international peer-reviewed journals
• Contributions to the development of research environments, cross-disciplinary collaboration and strategic development of the research area
• Initiative and leadership of applications for external research funding
• Contribute to supervision, teaching and evaluation of students at master, candidate and PhD levels
• Contribute to lecturer evaluations and professional assessment committees

Qualifications

Appointment as Associate Professor presupposes research and teaching qualifications at the level obtainable based on a satisfactorily completed probation as an assistant professor, but may also be achieved otherwise.

It is expected that the applicant has documented scientific production at an international level. In addition, it is expected that the applicant has received supervision and pedagogical upskilling and has received a positive written assessment of their teaching qualifications.

Who are we

The Clinical Institute delivers research-based teaching to all disciplines in the medical candidate education, and conducts research within the clinical specialties.

The Clinical Institute works closely with the North Jutland hospitals and general practice on teaching and research. There are teaching activities for medical students at several hospital matriculates and in general practice in the Region of North Jutland.

The institute is attached to about 40 research units each with its own medical specialty. In addition to these research units, the institute is attached to a number of other research units and centers. The majority of the institute’s staff, in addition to employment at the institute, also have a hospital appointment.

Research Unit for Clinical Nursing

Research Unit for Clinical Nursing focuses on practice- and specialty-oriented research in close collaboration with clinical practice. The overall purpose of the Research Unit is to generate solid mono- and multidisciplinary research projects of high international quality to strengthen nursing professionalism. The strategic starting point is Fundamentals of Care (FoC), understood as person-centered nursing with a focus on continuity and high professionalism. Salary and terms of employment

You are employed in accordance with the Executive Order on Employment of Scientific Staff at Universities and the Executive Order on the Professional Classification for Scientific Staff at Universities. You are employed and paid according to the State’s salary agreement for academics and the protocol on certain terms of employment for scientific staff at universities.
