About the job

Lillebæltskolen is seeking a teacher for a maternity leave substitute in science and mathematics

Are you passionate about teaching – and do you want to help make a difference?

Then you now have the chance to become part of our fantastic school, where professionalism, community, and well-being go hand in hand.

We are looking for an engaged and capable maternity leave substitute who is passionate about science and mathematics and who wants to create exciting and motivating teaching that awakens students' curiosity and desire to learn.

You will primarily teach science and mathematics to our oldest year groups in the school’s junior environment, which includes students from 5th to 9th grade.

It is an advantage if you have experience guiding students to the common science exam, but this is not a requirement.

We place emphasis on your strong didactic and relational skills, and that you meet the students with warmth, clear expectations, and an eye for their different starting points. You should want to make a difference for the students – academically and socially – and actively contribute to a strong collegial community.

We are also curious about what else you can contribute. Please tell us about your other teaching competencies, special interests, and what you are passionate about in your application.

You will be part of an ambitious team with competent staff and good colleagues, with whom you should want to engage in a close and committed collaboration, where everyone aims to create good conditions for students’ development, both personally, academically, and socially.

Lillebæltskolen is located in Middelfart and is a well-functioning school with about 500 students from 0.-9. grade and a after-school program (SFO) with about 180 children.

Lillebæltskolen’s values are built on well-being, learning, responsibility, and collaboration. We are a school that wants to create good frameworks, space for all, and where strong inclusive learning communities, engagement, joy, and wholehearted days are important elements, both in the SFO and at school.

The school has good physical facilities, large green outdoor areas, and is located in scenic surroundings close to the Little Belt but in an urban environment.

At Lillebæltskolen we work from our shared municipal vision “From Middelfart Child to Global Citizen,” where we emphasize opportunities for all, wholehearted days, and including everyone. Our focus is to create participation opportunities for all children, and you will be a big part of the development project FIFA (More in Common in the General Education Area).

Therefore it is essential that you can see yourself working from Middelfart’s common civic view of children, which is based on the following statements:

Children learn and thrive in communities

Children are more similar than different

Children are not the problem – they reveal the problem

Children do what they can; it is up to adults to do something differently

We offer

  • An amazing school with sweet and well-functioning children
  • A school environment where well-being and learning go hand in hand
  • An workplace with an engaged and positive staff, where well-being, recognition, and professionalism are shared values
  • A collaborative culture built around teams
  • An active and engaged parent community
  • A varied daily life with many exciting challenges and experiences

We emphasize that you

  • Are good at clear and acknowledging classroom management
  • Are bold and willing to think “outside the box”
  • Have a broad academic foundation for the didactic/pedagogical work
  • Are committed and have a large heart for children’s learning and well-being
  • Are flexible in the many exciting challenges encountered as a school employee
  • Are qualified and committed to constructively, openly, and honestly engage in effective team collaboration, both with teachers and teaching assistants
  • Have relational competence, both regarding close parent collaboration and in relation to the children
  • Understand that children learn in different ways and be able to differentiate your teaching

We therefore expect that you

  • Are good at building relationships with both children and adults, and can set up frameworks and structures in daily work
  • Are caring, imaginative, clear, and robust
  • Are able to see opportunities when they arise
  • Are flexible, development-oriented, and innovative
  • Are self-organizing, responsible, and stable.

We are a school that values a good working environment, with room for smiles, humor, and good energy.
