About the job

Are you ready for a career change and would you like a daily life where professional challenges, meaningful patient relationships, and a strong collegial community are at the center? Then a position as a nurse with us may be the next right step. We are continuously seeking nurses with start dates in the period 01.11.2026-01.02.2027

Who are we – and why are we seeking new colleagues?

We are a large pulmonary medicine inpatient ward at Hvidovre Hospital with 40 beds and a broad patient population.

Here you will meet stable patients with deterioration in their known lung disease (e.g., asthma, COPD, and fibrosis), acute and critical patient pathways, elective admissions, thoracentesis, as well as patients with palliative needs and in the terminal phase.

We have 10 beds for our unstable NIV and semi-intensive patients – these are cared for by specially trained nurses in the ward.

We opened 8 beds in the spring and, in connection with this, increased our on-site presence. We are therefore looking for a couple of new colleagues who want to get acquainted with the pulmonary medicine specialty, acquire a solid foundation in basic nursing and cross-sector collaboration, or develop strong competencies in treating acute and critical illness.

What can we offer?

  • A flat hierarchy that prioritizes interdisciplinary collaboration in a culture with room for everyone's input. We put patients first and work together to create the best patient pathways by using everyone's experience and knowledge.
  • Structured onboarding : As a new employee you will receive a thorough introduction through a 1-year onboarding program . This includes a personal mentor, individual competence development, and a career plan tailored to your experience and ambitions.
  • Clinical sparring and development: We offer ongoing professional sparring, supervision and opportunities for continuing education. Whether you are a newly graduated or experienced, you will get a solid foundation to build on.
  • Flexible working hours: We operate according to the principle of a wish schedule , so you have a major say in when and how you work as well as where your days off and compensatory time should lie. We primarily work in 8-hour shifts, also every 3rd weekend, but you have the option to request 12-hour shifts with a colleague if it suits you.
  • A strong community: You will become part of a collegial community where humor , professionalism and support in everyday life are in focus. We value well-being and balance between work and private life, as we believe high well-being is essential to providing high-quality nursing.
  • Help with structure and overview: It is no secret that one can quickly become busy on a medical ward, and we therefore have various measures to create structure and overview in the shifts:
  • Fixed time-outs: the whole shift meets here to give a brief status on whether they can keep up with their workload, whether there is a need to swap tasks, who can receive new patients, etc.
  • Prioritization triangle to ensure consensus on the most important tasks if we are busy, so we collectively take responsibility for the shift.
  • Circulating nurse : facilitates time-out, has an overview of patient flow and can help with e.g. redistributing patients or offering professional sparring.
  • MAS : a medication- responsible nurse on day shift who dispenses and administers medicines, packages dose boxes and medicines for discharge
  • Local salary ladder : as you acquire competencies in the specialty to perform the roles as NIV-, IMA- and Circulating Nurse, you are also allocated local allowances per role you perform.

What is it like to be employed with us?

Our staff group consists of colleagues of all ages and life phases with different backgrounds, experiences and interests. There will therefore often be someone to mirror yourself against, and always someone to bounce ideas off. Despite our differences, it is common for all that no one stands alone: you become part of a supportive team where there is always help and sparring to ensure patient safety.

We prioritize social cohesion, both during and outside working hours, with activities such as a summer party, fitness month, a shared Friday lunch and much more.

Our expectations of you

  • You are a licensed nurse or in the process of completing nurse education, and have an interest in pulmonary or acute nursing
  • You thrive in a dynamic and busy work environment where days are rarely the same
  • You place high value on professional quality, patient safety and satisfaction
  • You wish to contribute with professionalism, humor and good energy to the team
  • You want to become part of a strong collegial community

In short

With us you get both professional development, a secure introduction and a collegial environment where we lift each other up – every day. We do not expect you to come with specialized knowledge – only the desire and motivation to learn.

Have we sparked your interest?

The position is intended to be filled in the period 01.11.2026-01.02.2027 – we will therefore conduct interviews continuously.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is, as a starting point, 37 hours with mixed shifts and 8-hour shifts every 2nd or 3rd weekend. There is the possibility of part-time or maternity cover if desired.

Salary and terms of employment follow the collective agreement for non-managerial staff in the Health Sector, negotiated between the parties of the Health Collective, including the Danish Nurses Organization and the Regions’ Pay and Tariff Board with salary placement as a nurse without specialized training. In addition, there is a local salary agreement for the pulmonary medicine specialty at AHH.
