About the job

About the job

At Frederiksbjerg School we are seeking, as of January 1, 2027, preferably mid-December 2026, a mathematics teacher with a natural sciences profile for a maternity-leave substitute. The position includes mathematics in 8th grade as well as a number of classes in physics/chemistry, biology and geography in the upper years. There are a number of support hours in the subject area linked to the position; these are coordinated together with the mathematics advisor in the upper school. Skilled colleagues in the upper school are also ready to help you and provide professional and pedagogical sparring.

You will take on a co-class teacher role in 8th grade.

Your profile

You are a trained teacher with mathematics and physics/chemistry as major subjects. We would also like you to have teaching competence in biology and geography.

You are a clear classroom leader, and you work structurally and at a high academic level. We integrate movement and project-based teaching at the school, so you must have an interest in these elements. You should present yourself pedagogically and didactically with confidence and have a desire to be a significant adult in the children’s lives.

You are motivated by and contribute to a strong social and professional collegial environment with high expectations, mutual commitment and many good laughs in everyday life.

Therefore choose us

Frederiksbjerg School is located in a central and attractive part of Aarhus city centre. Here, 820 children and about 100 leaders and staff lead an active everyday life.

The school is the natural first choice for the majority of the local area's children, just as there is high demand for the school from children from outside the area. It is not without reason. Frederiksbjerg School was inaugurated in 2016 and is equipped with subject rooms, lounge areas, presentation stairs and climbing walls that support the school’s pedagogy and didactics. The school has a strong movement DNA and is equipped with 100 different movement opportunities. You can get an insight into the school’s layout and pedagogy here: About the school (aarhus.dk).

The school has three divisions, each with its own pedagogical leader. The early years, where we work according to the KRAI principles (Competence-Based Rolling Age-Integrated Primary), the middle years, where we work with subject clusters, and the upper school, where we have line classes that students choose based on interest. You can get an introduction to the three divisions here: How we teach (aarhus.dk).

The school’s active outdoor areas and large terraces are used in play and teaching. They also invite close collaboration with the local community residents who use the school’s facilities. The school uses the city’s and the local area’s offerings – sports facilities, swimming pool, etc. The school is located close to forest and beach, so in many ways Frederiksbjerg School is a village school in the city centre.

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Final salary setting takes place after negotiations with the negotiating professional organization based on qualifications, unless the position is covered by a pre-agreement that can form the basis for salary determination
