About the job

Medical physicist for Radiotherapy

Do you want to help ensure and further develop the quality in one of Denmark's largest radiotherapy centers.

We are seeking a medical physicist for a permanent position in the Physics Section in the Department of Cancer Treatment at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital.

We are looking for a colleague with strong professional competences and particular interest in quality assurance. At the same time we place great emphasis on personal qualifications, collaboration skills and the desire to contribute to a strong professional community.

About the department

The Department of Cancer Treatment is among Denmark's largest radiotherapy centers and treats patients from across the Capital Region. The physics section works closely with physicians, radiographers, nurses and technicians to ensure high-quality treatment, high patient safety and ongoing development of the department's treatment methods.

The department has a modern and technologically advanced radiotherapy environment with

  • 3 CT scanners for treatment planning
  • 1 dedicated MR scanner for radiotherapy
  • 6 Varian TrueBeam accelerators
  • 1 Varian Halcyon accelerator
  • 2 Varian Ethos accelerators for adaptive radiotherapy
  • ExacTrac Dynamic from Brainlab
  • Identify system for surface-guided radiotherapy (SGRT).

In addition we participate in a virtual collaboration with Rigshospitalet regarding MR-Linac treatments.

The coming years will bring a number of exciting development projects, including implementation of HyperSight, RapidArc Dynamic and further development of Identify on our adaptive treatment platforms. In the longer term the department also faces a renewal of the accelerator fleet, which gives the physics group an important role in planning and implementing the future of radiotherapy.

About the position

You will become part of an engaged group of physicists with participation in both clinical operations, development tasks and implementation of new technologies.

Your tasks include, among others

  • quality assurance of treatment equipment and clinical processes
  • development, maintenance and optimization of QA programs
  • dose planning and plan evaluation
  • work with adaptive treatment courses
  • implementation and validation of new technologies
  • interdisciplinary collaboration on patient treatment
  • teaching and development activities.

We are looking for a colleague who

  • is a trained medical physicist or is close to completing the medical physicist education
  • has experience from clinical radiotherapy.

We particularly wish to strengthen the department's competencies in quality assurance. We therefore place great emphasis on your skills and commitment to quality assurance.

Additionally we would welcome competencies or interest in

  • dose planning
  • adaptive treatment courses
  • image-guided radiotherapy
  • implementation and validation of new technologies
  • automation, programming or data analysis
  • clinical development, research or teaching.

We would, however, very much like to hear from applicants with other professional competencies and interests. The physicists' group spans a wide range of work, and we see great value in a group with diverse professional profiles.

Personal qualifications weighed highly

We are not necessarily seeking the biggest specialist, but the right colleague.

We therefore place great emphasis on that you

  • are collaborative and contribute positively to the community
  • thrive in a multidisciplinary environment
  • work in a structured and quality-conscious manner
  • take responsibility and follow tasks through
  • are curious and motivated for professional development
  • contribute positively to the department's working environment.

We offer

  • a strong professional environment with a high degree of specialization
  • opportunity to shape the development of future radiotherapy
  • participation in the implementation of new technology
  • good opportunities for professional and personal development
  • a strong collegial community
  • a department characterized by high professionalism, innovation and collaboration
  • Salary and terms of employment in accordance with the collective agreement and local agreement. The department performs treatments on all weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00, on weekends and holidays from 08:00 to 16:00. In addition there will be e.g. QA implementation and development tasks that can only be resolved after normal daytime hours.
