About us

Workshop Skive is part of the Defence Maintenance Service. We consist of about 70 skilled civilian and military employees who are tasked with maintaining, inspecting, repairing and modifying the Defence's equipment. We work with everything from armored personnel carriers, trucks, trailers to construction machinery as well as CBRN-, EOD- and COLPRO-equipment.

About the training

You will work with everything from inspection tasks to large repairs in close collaboration with our skilled journeymen, while you gain practical skills and acquire the professional competencies within your trade.

• The training lasts about 3½ years, depending on your qualifications.
• You combine practical on-the-job training in the workshop with school periods at the vocational school in Vejle
• You will gain both professional and personal development opportunities in an environment where people take responsibility and help each other.

• Have completed 9th/10th grade and a relevant basic course within cars, aviation or transport means.
• Are curious, engaged and ready to take responsibility.

Conditions of employment

Employment and remuneration are carried out in accordance with the General Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations. The state sector (OAO-S collective agreement) and the trade agreement for craftsmen and technicians.

For you who are under 25 years old, your starting salary will be calculated based on any prior education and experience, but will at minimum be 13,099.57 DKK per month. If you are 25 years or older, your salary is 22,706.53 DKK per month. There is an employer-funded pension scheme attached to the position.

As an employee of the Defence you are subject to certain special terms. Among other things you must be able to obtain security clearance, and maintain the clearance throughout the entire employment process.

As an employee you are obliged to perform service outside the country’s borders, including units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian and other similar operations.

Defence Maintenance Service

The Defence Maintenance Service is a quality-management and safety-conscious service organization that maintains, repairs and modifies the Defence's materiel. Part of the company is ISO and occupational health and safety certified today, which is expected to be extended to the entire organization. The authority employs about 1700 staff.

The Defence Maintenance Service consists of a Maintenance Division with six maintenance areas distributed geographically across the country, and a Planning and Coordination Division located in Brabrand. The six Maintenance Areas specialize in repairing, maintaining and modifying specific materiel systems within their professional pillar. The Planning and Coordination Division consists of a Business Department and an Operations Department, which handle coordinating planning, training, management, controlling and development of the Defence Maintenance Service.

In addition to repairing and maintaining the Defence's materiel, the Defence Maintenance Service also supports the Defence's operations and missions with well-trained military technical personnel who are loaned to Defence units according to agreed planning or ad hoc in special cases.
