Your everyday life and professional development in the workshop

As a truck mechanic apprentice at Skifter Lastbil in Esbjerg you join as an equal part of the workshop team from your very first day.

The training with us is structured so that you quickly gain practical experience with your own tasks, so your craft and technical understanding are built up through concrete challenges.

Our department in Esbjerg houses both the sales department, assembly, service workshop and an advanced claims department, which among other things performs chassis and cab alignment with laser technology. As an authorized service partner for Volvo Trucks and Renault Trucks we cover the entire fleet from vans to heavy trucks.

The department comprises 18 dedicated employees who are fully used to working with truck mechanic apprentices and know how to ensure good training.

You will throughout your entire training have this strong backing of experienced and skilled mechanic journeymen behind you. They act as your mentors, ensuring your professional development and thoroughly preparing you to handle all mechanical and technical disciplines.

This broad foundation and the close collaboration across the house gives you a varied day-to-day life and the best possible education within modern fleet service.

Your primary work and learning areas will be

• Mechanical work: service, maintenance and repair of large engines, gearboxes and drivetrain.
• Safety and comfort: Troubleshooting and optimization of steering systems, brake systems, undercarriage and cabs.
• High technology and diagnostics: Use of computer systems and diagnostic software for precise technical troubleshooting.
• Damage and alignment work: Introduction to specialized repairs and alignment of chassis frames on heavy vehicles.

The training and the professional foundation

Your school courses take place at Syddansk Erhvervsskole (SDE) in Vejle, where you acquire the latest theoretical knowledge, which you take directly back to the workshop in Esbjerg. You will also become part of a strong apprentice community with good colleagues, where we support one another and ensure a safe framework for your apprenticeship.

Who are you?

• Technical flair: You have the hands-on skills and a healthy interest in mechanics and large machines.
• Engaged and curious: You take initiative, work purposefully and want to learn new technologies.
• Team player: You have good collaboration skills, are reliable and contribute positively to the workshop atmosphere.
• Admission requirements: You have passed or expect to pass 9th or 10th grade (or equivalent) with an average grade of at least 2.0 in both Danish and mathematics.
