The daily work with Volvo and Renault Trucks in the workshop

As an apprentice at Skifter Lastbil in Aabenraa you enter a professional everyday life with great professional variation. You will get your hands right down in the mechanics and will be trained in the latest technology from Volvo and Renault Trucks. Together with your colleagues you will dismantle, repair and maintain state-of-the-art fleets. Your daily tasks will include work on:

• Large engines, advanced gearboxes and rear gear.
• Steering systems, undercarriage, braking systems and cabs.
• High-tech computer equipment and diagnostic systems for precise fault finding.

The training at SDE in Vejle and the professional foundation

The training to become a truck mechanic takes 3½ years (plus basic course) and ensures you a strong balance between theory and practical workshop time. To be admitted to the education you must have passed 9th or 10th grade (or equivalent) with an average grade of at least 2.0 in both Danish and mathematics.

Your schoolwork takes place at Syddansk Erhvervsskole (SDE) in Vejle, where you acquire the latest theoretical knowledge. That knowledge you take directly home to the workshop in Aabenraa. To ensure your professional development you will get a fixed connection to an experienced, trained mechanic who guides you through everyday life. You also become part of a strong apprenticeship community with good colleagues, where we lift together and ensure a safe and structured framework for your apprenticeship.
