About the job

Are you a recently graduated engineer with an interest in geotechnics?

Are you motivated to apply your professional expertise in practice – both at your desk and out on the railway? And do you want to take on responsibility and develop yourself together with skilled colleagues?

Then perhaps it is you we are looking for. At Banedanmark we are seeking a geotechnical engineer for the Drainage, Geotechnics and Climate section. Here you get a varied day-to-day life, where you work with concrete geotechnical issues out on the railway and with professional documentation, project management and sparring in the office.

We are looking for you who are a recent graduate or at the start of your career, and who have built your interest and knowledge within geotechnics through your education, student job or internship. In the position you will have the title geographical subject specialist.

Your tasks - a day-to-day life on the track and in the office

The section's task is to operate and maintain the railway's drainage facilities and geotechnical installations – with a focus on how the climate affects the railway now and in the future.

As a geotechnical engineer you will, among other things, be responsible for track embankments, cuttings and the drainage installations that handle groundwater. Together with your colleagues you help to ensure the daily operation of the railway and to find solutions when challenges arise.

Your daily life will therefore be a mix of office work and time out on the track. You will among other things:

  • conduct inspections of track embankments and track slopes
  • translate observations from inspections into action plans and documentation
  • provide professional sparring on geotechnical solutions
  • lead projects and prepare tender materials
  • handle urgent corrections in case of functional faults
  • monitor the railway in relation to geotechnical conditions
  • coordinate geotechnical actions with colleagues across disciplines and contribute with professional sparring on solutions.
  • There are of course some core tasks that must be solved, but once they are under control there is also an opportunity to shape your daily life and continue working with the areas you find particularly interesting.
  • recent graduate engineer with specialization or interest within geotechnics
  • has built up basic knowledge of geotechnics through education, student jobs, internships or relevant work experience
  • can collaborate across disciplines and contribute to professional sparring on geotechnical issues
  • can plan and follow geotechnical tasks to completion, including documentation and follow-up
  • is motivated to learn the railway's geotechnical conditions and working methods if the area is new to you
  • can express yourself clearly and precisely in writing when technical observations and solutions are to be documented.

You will have responsibility – and you won't be left alone

With us you will have great influence on how you organise your workday. We believe that responsibility and ownership create both professional development and job satisfaction.

You must be able to work independently and take responsibility for getting your tasks fully finished – from the first observation or idea to the final solution and documentation.

Of course you don't need to be able to do everything from day one. In your onboarding period you will be attached to a buddy who helps you get started. You will have the opportunity to get to know the railway and our working methods, while gradually taking on more responsibility

We have a solid professional environment where it is common to ask each other for advice. We work across disciplines and use each other's skills when a task lies outside our own area of expertise.

The team

You will become part of the Drainage, Geotechnics and Climate section, which consists of 14 dedicated employees, four of whom work with geotechnics.

We are geographically distributed across three locations, but we place great emphasis on functioning as one team. There is good camaraderie, and we help each other – both when new colleagues are being trained and when workload increases.

We believe we become better when we share knowledge and help one another. Therefore professional sparring, knowledge sharing and a good working environment are an important part of everyday life with us.

Christina Lundegård, your upcoming team leader says

”I am an accessible leader who is happy to help with sparring and direction. I like you to try to find solutions yourself first, because that means you get room to develop and find your own way to solve the tasks. And if you get stuck, help is near.”

About you

We imagine that you

The most important for us is not that you can do everything in advance. It is that you have professional curiosity, engagement and willingness to take responsibility. It is a prerequisite that you can speak and write Danish, and that you have a category B driving license. Flexibility and variation in daily life

With us you get a workday with great variation. Some days are primarily at the desk, while others take you out on the track, where you see the conditions you work with in real life. You have the opportunity to work from home, and we have flexitime and a paid lunch break.
