About the job

Are you a nurse, and do you want a workplace with good camaraderie, collegial community and high professional standards, then look here!

Are you passionate about working with the elderly patient group, and do you want to have the opportunity to use your skills in both the somatic and the psychiatric field, then N4 is the right workplace for you. Here you have the possibility to make a difference for both patients and relatives, and you get the opportunity to help mentally vulnerable elderly people and their families move forward in a process where many difficult future decisions must be made.

You will have the opportunity to work in treatment psychiatry within a very special niche area, which in many ways is different, but also has similarities with general psychiatry. We can welcome a unique, large and exciting specialty within Psychiatry.

We are a department where there is continued focus on a good working environment, and we have all committed to some very special collaboration agreements, which are based on the ITOP values of psychiatry.

We are looking for a colleague who has experience from psychiatry and/or the elderly field, or a colleague who is keen and brave to learn our specialty.

Your future colleagues say about their workplace

”Here there is good collegial cooperation. You can be yourself and give/receive constructive criticism.”

”We have many successes with our patients, and succeed greatly with even the most difficult patient trajectories.”

”I have been here 3 years, and I have not yet experienced a day where I did not want to go to work.”

”We experience approachable and listening management”

”we experience a meaningful everyday life with the patients in focus, and where many daily activities are planned with the patients”

”There is room for development”

The practical

You will be employed with weekend shift every 3rd weekend in 8-hour shifts, and with a standard period of 12 weeks. You will work in mixed DV/AV - with a majority of evening shifts. If you want NV’s as an alternative to the DV’s, that's also possible.

The position is full-time, but we can be accommodating if you wish to have a smaller number of hours.

You will be employed with base in N4A which is our open department and will have the majority of your shifts here, but you will also be employed in a cross-functional role to our sister unit N4D which is our closed ward. Practically this means that in connection with holidays, course planning, illness etc., you may be scheduled for shifts at N4D, just as you may be asked to take your otherwise planned shift on the opposite ward if an acute need arises.

About the job

As a Nurse in N4A you get a meaningful everyday life with many balls in the air, and a day-to-day where we are always challenged on our creativity in our approach to the patients and care.. In nursing our patient group, we monitor both somatic and psychiatric issues, and there is never a day like another, and therefore it is important that you thrive in unpredictable and unforeseen tasks. With us you learn to provide holistic nursing to the elderly psychiatric patient.

You will work with de-escalation nursing and prevention of coercion. You will work with patient involvement both in the treatment and nursing of the elderly psychiatric patient, and you will work cross-disciplinary both internally in the ward, and in relation to the primary sector. If desired, there is potential for development and further education in the long term.

About you

We wish that you are a trained nurse, and that you are motivated by working with elderly people. You understand the importance of a good working environment, and you want to contribute to it. You should thrive with having many balls in the air.

We are looking for a colleague who is curious and solution-oriented, and who emphasizes dialogue and collaboration both in relation to patients, colleagues and management. A colleague who is both stable and flexible. A colleague who is professionally engaged and interested in contributing to the ward's development. A colleague who can maintain an overview in pressured situations, and who has the courage to take on overarching responsibility in the future.

About the department

Department N4 is an intensive bed ward for elderly psychiatric patients and has a regional function. The department consists of an open and a closed ward as well as an outpatient clinic and 2 mobile teams.

We have an acute function, and can have 18 patients admitted. Of these, 2 beds can be converted to high-intensive. We have affiliated with a occupational therapist, physiotherapist, activity worker, social worker and doctors. The nursing staff consists of nurses, social and healthcare assistants and pedagogues. We are housed in the same building as the Elderly Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic, and we have a close collaboration with them, and are under the same management.

We educate both SSA students and nursing students, and take pride in receiving and guiding both students and trainees. As an employee in geriatric psychiatry it is required that you in collaboration with clinical supervisors and student supervisors contribute to this task. We regard this as a major factor in ensuring recruitment of new staff and good future colleagues.

We are in Geriatric Psychiatry divided into 2 pillars. An affective pillar (N4A) and a dementia pillar (N4D). In N4A, where the position is vacant, we mainly admit patients with affective disorders and/or mild to moderate dementia. In addition we see many patients with psychotic symptoms and socially unresolved issues. In N4D mainly patients with dementia diagnoses and associated severe behavioral disorders and/or psychiatric disorders are admitted. The position is base in N4A, but since you are employed in a cross-ward position, you will also need to be prepared to take occasional shifts at N4D.

Nursing in N4A is organized with TEAMS around the individual patient.

We prioritize an Introduction program as well as a mentor scheme, and we are a workplace with opportunities for professional and personal development.

We offer

We can offer an exciting and challenging job in a department where there is influence and high professionalism. You will have skilled colleagues to spar with, and you will be surrounded by a management and colleagues who are passionate about the specialty. We place emphasis on having a good and varied everyday life, where we all take responsibility and look after each other well.
