About the job

Are you passionate about nursing care for patients with affective disorders? Do you place emphasis on high professionalism and would you like to work in a professionally challenging environment with complex patient pathways? Then it’s you we’re looking for, to join our team.

What you will be part of

Section D3 is an open psychiatric inpatient ward with a specialty in affective disorders. We treat patients with the diagnoses: bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, dual diagnoses and personality disorders. We also receive additional patients admitted for diagnostic clarification.

In mid-May 2026 we moved to newly renovated premises at Frederiksberg Hospital. We have space for 15 patients. Our staffing norm is 4-5 in-person in the day shift, and 3 in-person in the evening shift, and 2 at night, as well as a charge nurse who is responsible for the four departments we are integrated with.

We work in a professionally challenging environment with complex patient pathways in a close multidisciplinary collaboration with doctors, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social workers.

We collaborate with the Competence Center for Affective Disorders, as well as F-ACT and the psychotherapeutic outpatient clinics in Copenhagen and at Frederiksberg. As well as municipal treatment options. We also have a close collaboration with the research unit at Psychiatric Center Copenhagen.

We continually welcome both students and trainees, and we want to create a solid learning environment for them. We prioritise involving the students in the treatment pathways, with the aim that they have a positive experience and gain insight into the affective diagnoses and treatment for this patient group.

How we work?

Our nursing care is based on a well-established patient liaison system. We work with coordinating and secondary liaison officers. In addition, we work purposefully from patient plans, created together with the patient, and which outline the patient’s needs, wishes and goals during their admission with us. The nursing care is recovery-oriented and based on the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy.

We have a strong focus on relationship work, which is crucial for collaboration with our patients, and we focus on patient involvement so that patients are always informed about where they are in their progression. Additionally, we involve relatives to the extent the patients wish in the treatment process. Relatives play a central role in supporting the patient and are an important resource in the treatment process. And in this context we also focus on the needs of the relatives.

Your work with us includes, among other things

  • Coordinating liaison for 2-3 patients.
  • Hereunder including being a fixed secondary liaison for 1-2 patients.
  • Participation in weekly professional reflection. And every other week in supervision to strengthen professional competencies.
  • Participation in and development of milieu therapy in the department in the evenings.
  • Observe the patients’ psychiatric as well as somatic conditions.
  • Document observations from the on-call shift for your assigned patients.

Why should you apply for this job?

You will become part of an acknowledged specialty department. You will have influence on the professional development in the department, and you will have great influence on the structuring and planning of your own work.

We offer you a thorough introduction and training in the specialty, supported by our mentoring scheme. And we prioritise patient and staff safety highly.

You will have professionally engaged leaders and colleagues. We are a team of 25 staff members distributed among nurses and social- and health-care assistants. With us you get a working environment where there is room for laughter, crying and time for professional reflection.

Every other week there is an opportunity to participate in supervision with our specialist psychologist and the rest of the team.

Our expectations of you

We expect you to want to contribute with your knowledge, curiosity and competencies, and to want to further develop your professional skills.

In addition we expect that you

  • Have authorization as a nurse or as a social- and health-care assistant
  • Be a team player
  • Be a curious and open person.
