About the job

Come and become part of our fantastic emergency department!

You now have the opportunity to become part of our exciting department, where two days are never the same.

You will meet an energetic team of staff of all ages, with broad professional knowledge and a good sense of humor.

Do you thrive on professional challenges, constant personal development, strong collegial bonds and a culture with room for diversity? Then read on and send us your application.

About us

We are seeking staff for our emergency department, which among other things covers

  • 17 beds in the inpatient ward
  • Trauma rooms and the casualty department in Slagelse and Næstved
  • Staffing of telephone triage of emergency department patients
  • Flow coordination
  • From 1 January 2027, the authority responsibility for SOP places and emergency nursing in the four municipalities under MVH, which provides many new and exciting opportunities.

The emergency department receives and treats acute patients around the clock, primarily brought in by ambulance or referred by a GP or on-call doctor.

We primarily receive patients triaged red or orange, i.e., the most severely ill patients; others are directed to the acute hospital's other departments. At the same time, we handle a large patient flow in our “fast-track,” where patients, in collaboration with the doctors, are investigated, stabilised and treated, until transfer to the main department or discharge takes place.

We are a broad, experienced team, where highly qualified staff with many years of experience from different specialties work side by side with newly graduated or upcoming nurses, who go through our introduction program. The program consists of three competence cards, so you are optimally equipped for the task – always with support from your colleagues.

There are many development opportunities, including through five different roles/functions that provide variation in the work and good chances to develop your competencies.

We offer

  • A structured introductory program that prepares you for the acute patient and the task.
  • A lot of influence on your own shift schedule within defined frames – e.g., the possibility to choose between every other weekend in 8-hour shifts or every third weekend in 12-hour shifts (or a combination of these).
  • Unique professional challenges in working with acute patients.
  • An unpredictable everyday life and a lot of multidisciplinary sparring.
  • Variation in the work with the opportunity to try different functions.
  • Great responsibility with the possibility of taking on your own areas of responsibility over time.
  • Ongoing competence development (courses, SKILLS, ILS, ALS as well as Acute Specialist Training).
  • Fantastic colleagues with a strong sense of community – we look after each other, and we value a good laugh in daily life (and we have a fondness for cake!).

We expect that you

  • Are a trained nurse and enjoy this profession.
  • Are curious and proactive in your work and see the importance of keeping your knowledge up to date.
  • Have a desire to work with the acute patient and are comfortable with an unpredictable daily life.
  • Are good at prioritizing tasks, even during busy shifts.
  • Put the patient at the center and contribute to good collaboration with both the patient and their relatives.
  • Are flexible with regard to mixed shifts and take responsibility.
  • Wish to be part of a diverse staff group and contribute positively with your attitude and solution-oriented approach.
  • Have a good sense of humor and always wear a tasteful YES-hat.

It is advantageous if you

  • Have a practitioner qualification.
  • Have several years of experience as a nurse, preferably with a hospital background.
  • Are familiar with documentation in Sundhedsplatformen.
