About the job

Are you passionate about the geriatric specialty with a focus on the multimorbid elderly patient.

Our upcoming colleague

You can be a recent graduate or more experienced with authorization as a nurse who puts the patient at the center. In daily practice this means you prioritise the geriatric core tasks, i.e. everything from nutrition, mobilization, early detection of critical illness and the good discharge.

You can engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with different professions, where work is done around and with the patient and you also ensure involving relatives, as they have important knowledge about the patient.

You thrive with many different tasks and are happy to step in if extra hands are needed – we are a team and we lift together.

There may also be something you are particularly good at, which can inspire learning for the benefit of both colleagues and the patients. Likewise, of course, we will help you too, especially at the beginning, so you get a secure start in the department.

Regardless of whether you are new or experienced in your professional life, we expect you to actively contribute to the daily clinical supervision of students/apprentices and in general contribute with good humor and positive energy.

A meaningful job in a department with trust and focus on collaboration

In the Department of Geriatric Diseases G1, we work with respect and care in the nursing and treatment of the elderly patient. In addition to the general geriatric patient, we also treat patients over 65 with hip fractures.

Together with the patient we work cross-professionally to ensure the best possible admission process, where both patient and relatives are involved. To ensure a good discharge we also have close collaboration with the primary sector, where social planning is a factor for a good discharge.

We place high value on a good working environment and it is important that you and your colleagues thrive – we are always open to dialogue. Therefore you will also have influence on your own shift schedule, so your work life and private life fit together. You will work in rotating shifts and every 2nd weekend, but we are in a process where we want everyone to be able to work every 3rd weekend.

A good introduction and opportunity for further education

We focus on a developing work community and you can therefore look forward to

  • A good onboarding process, which takes its starting point from your level of experience and competences
  • Assigned points of contact who ensure you get through your introductory period – including bedside training.
  • Focus on competence development
  • Training in assigned patient care, where the competences come into play and there is focus on interprofessional/intersectoral collaboration
  • Participation in Geribasis 1 and 2
  • Participation in Skills Station X once a year including simulation training
  • Visible leadership in everyday life – if we sit in the office, the door is usually open
  • An developing work community where everyone takes joint responsibility to enhance the professional development in the department – with focus on the good patient journey and patient safety
  • Opportunity for further education within the geriatric specialty
