About the job

A permanent position as an occupational therapist at Hospitalsenhed Midt, Ward 5, Hammel Neurocenter Regional Hospital is vacant for filling from January 1, 2027. The position is essentially 37 hours.

Is it you we are looking for?

  • You have professional ambitions and a desire to specialize in neurorehabilitation.
  • You have respect for other professional disciplines and a desire for interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • You wish to contribute to a good working environment.
  • You thrive in a dynamic workplace where adjustments and development to the patient task are ongoing, and where research and development are an integrated part of the task solution.

If you recognize these 4 statements, you may be our new colleague at Hammel Neurocenter Regional Hospital.

As an occupational therapist employed in Ward 5 you will

  • Have an exciting and challenging job with the opportunity for a varied workday that you can influence.
  • Be part of a ward with a high mono- and cross-disciplinary level. You will have about 50 engaged and competent colleagues who are passionate about neurorehabilitation. Of these, 8 are occupational therapists.
  • Have room to continuously reflect on your own practice, which contributes to strengthening the professional development on the ward.
  • Receive a thorough introduction during the first 6 months.
  • Receive a structured mono-disciplinary as well as cross-disciplinary introduction. As a new employee you will be assigned a mentor from your own profession, as well as a cross-disciplinary mentor.

Subspecialty in Early Neurorehabilitation

The Subspecialty in Early Neurorehabilitation accepts patients immediately after the acute brain injury has stabilized. Patients are diagnosed, monitored and treated while early neurorehabilitation is initiated. In addition to early neurorehabilitation, we focus on patients who require highly specialized neurorehabilitation with a focus on cognitive and sensorimotor issues. Therefore, the ward is varied and offers a broad professional scope.

We work in interdisciplinary teams around each patient. The primary team consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, social and health care assistants, and the treating physician. The team is supplemented by speech-language pathologists, neuropsychologists, social workers, and dietitians.

In addition to work in the clinic here, occupational and physiotherapists daily cover patient treatment in the neuro-intensive rehabilitation ward in Silkeborg – NR. They thus have shifts both at our clinic and in Silkeborg. You should see yourself as part of this task solution – on-call to a lesser extent, but with shared responsibility for the neurorehabilitation effort.

Significant occupational therapy tasks at the Early Neurorehabilitation Clinic take as a starting point an activity-based focus - ADL training, development of neuropedagogical strategies, identification and treatment of communication difficulties and not least maintaining a focus on motivating activity and participation.

A core effort is dysphagia assessment and treatment with a view to establishing a safe eating and swallowing function. In many cases, patients here are admitted with cuffed tracheal tubes. As an occupational therapist you will, after training, be responsible for developing tube plans. Some of our patients have impaired consciousness levels, where an occupational therapy intervention focuses on establishing early contact.

The patient group can encompass complex physical and/or cognitive problems and therefore often requires a high degree of creativity in relation to using your occupational therapy approach in the patient’s neurorehabilitation.
