About the job

We are continuing to admit new young people to our 4 special placements at the MosaikHusene and are therefore seeking an occupational therapist for our newly formed team. The MosaikHusene are anchored in Faxe Social Development Center – commonly referred to as FSU.

Do you want to be part of a professionally strong and interdisciplinary team that is starting up 4 entirely special placements for young people in a house of their own? Do you want to work with presence, attentiveness, contact, activity, sensory integration and development in everyday life? Are you excited by movement, sensory stimulation and holistic support? Do you want to have influence on daily life? And are you passionate about working with young people with special needs – youths who are also physically challenged due to reduced functions and complex support needs? Then maybe it is with us you should apply.

At FSU we believe that it matters for all people to have meaning for others, and that this helps give life a sense of purpose. We believe that everyone has resources to participate in communities that both obligate and include. Therefore we work to support the young people in opportunities for participation in meaningful communities – regardless of challenges.

We place high value on good cooperation, both with colleagues, relatives and external partners. We have many different professional fields represented, and interdisciplinary collaboration is central. As an occupational therapist you will become an important part of this collaboration and you will play a central role in supporting the youths’ daily lives, participation in activities, sensory processing and functional capacity.

About the job

We are looking for an engaged occupational therapist with professional depth, overview and a desire to work closely with practice in our 4 new placements, where there are particularly good frameworks for young people with multiple disabilities and substantial support needs.

The residential service houses a total of 12 places distributed across 3 houses for youths under and over 18 years with accompanying respite placements. Our 4 newly established placements will house youths who share the same zest for life as our other youths – they simply have a greater need for support in terms of care, assistance, structure, activity, communication and participation in everyday life due to their multiple functional impairments.

They are youths we often know already through our STU and activity offers, and we use these offers to get to know the youths really well. The youths have a larger share of 1:1 support hours per day than the remaining residents, and as an occupational therapist you will therefore be part of the daily staffing.

As an occupational therapist with us you will be part of daily practice and play an important role in ensuring coherence between pedagogy, sensory stimulation, activity, communication, functional capacity, aids and documentation. You will work both directly with the youths and contribute with occupational therapy sparring to colleagues in the team.

Your tasks will include

  • Individually supporting, caring for and guiding in everyday life with a focus on participation, mastery and quality of life.
  • Occupational therapy observations, assessments and follow-up on the youths’ functional abilities, activity level and need for support.
  • Working with sensory integration, sensory stimulation and use of a sensory room as an essential part of everyday life.
  • Planning and carrying out meaningful activities in both individual and group-based settings.
  • Support for personal development, well-being, independence and participation in communities.
  • Contributing to structure, predictability and adaptation of daily routines according to the individual’s needs.
  • Assessment, use and follow-up on aids, seating positions, lying, transfers and other relevant compensatory measures.
  • Guidance and sparring for colleagues on ergonomics, aids, activity adaptation, sensory profiles and functional capacity.
  • Collaboration with relatives, therapists, doctors, specialists, STU, activity offers and other relevant professionals.
  • Documentation in relevant systems and contributions to pedagogical and interdisciplinary plans.
  • Participation in interdisciplinary meetings, reflection and professional development in the team.
  • Contribution to developing workflows and professional methods in the new placements.

We are looking for someone who

  • Is trained as an occupational therapist.
  • Wants to work with young people with autism spectrum disorders, cognitive impairments and multiple disabilities.
  • Will preferably have experience with the target group, the disability field, social services, sensory integration, aids, activity adaptation or neuropedagogy – but this is not a requirement.
  • Is interested in both occupational-therapeutic, pedagogical and health-professional collaboration.
  • Can work relationally, attentively and respectfully with youths who may have limited communicative abilities.
  • Is concerned with how activity, sensation, structure and surroundings can support well-being and participation.
  • Is patient, listening and good at building safe relationships.
  • Can work in a structured and independent way, but also thrives in interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Has good communication skills and a flair for written documentation.
  • Wants to contribute to building a new department and help shape professionalism, workflows and daily practice.
  • Can maintain an overview and composure – even when tasks require special attention, flexibility and professional judgment.

We offer

  • A meaningful and independent position where you can make a real difference for young people with special needs.
  • Opportunity to apply your occupational therapy expertise in a close interdisciplinary environment.
  • A professionally strong and supportive team with educators, SSA staff, nurses and other relevant professionals.
  • An workplace that places high importance on a good working environment.
  • Thorough training in the target group, the youths’ individual needs and relevant methods.
  • Ongoing supervision, sparring and competence development.
  • Opportunity to influence daily life and the development of the 4 special placements.
